Let me put it this way. I wouldn't trade our any of our post season trophies/appearances for the Bubas.

I agree. Thats what WKU fans have said for years. Its about championships. The Bubas Cup has value in that it shows overall strength of total programs but its just one factor. Winning championships and gaining attention in the post season have much more value.

You folks are arguing 2 different things here. Who did the best in money sports and who had the better all around athletic program.
The SLC did the equal points for all sports for their Commissioner's Cup. UTSA and UTA, without football, won the cup many times. TXST, with crappy football, won it many times too. The TXST gals hold the record for # of Women's trophies won.

If you want to argue the best has to be one that wins football then you are leaving out the contributions of your women's sports. Thus the term all sports. Don't care if you don't like softball or W soccer. WBB or volleyball, those teams go to NCAA's too. That gets your school recognition, whether you care to acknowledge it or not.

If you go back far enough, during WKU's struggles in football I cited the all sports performance as evidence that WKU could turn it around. All sports scoring provides some insight on the operation of a department.

The Bubas scoring method does reward having more sports, if it were indexed to reflect average finish in the sports played Denver would have scored very well which reflects how their program is run.

UL has the potential to win National Championships in Baseball and Softball this year. Remains to be seen if we do this or not, but that alone and the publicity it brings with it is more than 10 years worth of Bubba Gumps can bring us. Same can be said for the dynamic HUD. Dude brings it. Don't be surprised if UL basketball is NCAA bound again in 2015.

I agree about the groundball comparisons but does that mean you throw out any other way of comparing programs. It would be foolish.

No one has said otherwise. We get it, you'd rather have wins in certain sports, so would every one else (including WKU). It doesn't negate that WKU has the best overall athletic program in the Belt this year.
