RE: TBR's Latest Tuition Hikes
Gov. Haslam denied the request by Tenn. Higher Education Commission for 29.6 million in additional funds for education. This has been the trend for at least the last ten years, cut education funding.

The cost of goods and services rise every year for everyone. If the State of Tenn. will not fund a yearly cost of inflation, who pays the bill?

This will start resulting in diminishing returns at some point, thus the gov's plan of more Tennesseans with degrees goes up in smoke. And, offering "free" tuition at community colleges starting in 2015 is a farce if the state can't even keep up with inflation on higher education funding. The state will simply not be able to pay for this with the present funding formulas. I can actually remember the days when the state(s) funded public colleges at high rates befor the borrowing by students to pay the tab kicked in. At some point the borrowing will hit a brick wall, which is already a national financial crisis on the horizon.
