Exclamation Rank Your Units
Phil Steele does something similar to this in his magazine.

To pass the time give your gut feeling about where you think your units might rank among the SBC. Put who you think is #1 in (). Keep in mind a unit might be the best even if does not have the best individual player.

Coach: 2 (Louisiana)
Offensive Coordinator: 1 (Troy)
Defensive Coordinator: 9 (USA)

QB: 1 (Troy)
WR: 2 (USA)
RB: 5 (Louisiana)
OL: 3 (USA)
TE: 10 (ULM)

DL: 5 (TXST)
LB: 5 (ArkSt)
DB: 10 (Louisiana)

ST: 7 (Lousiana)

I feel like Troy has the best QB unit altogether, but Louisiana has the best QB. With three Alabama receivers on the roster, USA probably has the best set of WRs. I think Louisiana gets a 3rd place nod with the two monster WRs they got from EMCC. TE, DL, and LB were guesses based merely on what I've known them to have in the past. No clue what they bring back.

As a newbie I'm going to have to pass, I haven't watched enough Sun Belt football to give even a reasonable guess. I'm interested to see these lists though!

If you're putting TXST in the pole position for DL, I would have to argue with you big time.

TOTAL turnover, lots of JUCO and redshirt guys. Honestly, I think most of the Bobcat fans are MOST concerned about the DL going into this season.

RE: Rank Your Units
I would put our RB core in the top half for sure. But I really don't know what else is out there in the Sun Belt. I'm mainly going with the fact that we have a ton of talent, and with the guys that don't make the starting roster as a QB can also get utilized at RB. We just have a ton of fast guys.

Ok, I know this is immature but seriously...asking a bunch of guys to rank their units? Extra large, of course.

We have a new DC. Hope you are correct.

You do realize that the king size is actually two small pieces.

I can't rank every team and I can't rank most of the groups but I'd rank our LBs and RBs near the top this year. Our OL will be much improved. Maybe middle of the pack?

Guys just never grow up, do you? (well, yeah, I had the same reaction to the thread title)

I'll bite.

QB: 1. Louisiana-Broadway is the man!
RB: 1. Louisiana-Harris and McGuire
WR: 2. South Al...because a Troy fan said so.
OL: 1. Louisiana-Everyone but Huval is back.
TE: Really no clue...We have talent on paper but that's it.

DL: 1. Louisiana-Ringo and Hamilton lead our most talented unit.
LB: 1. TxSt...Orakpo 2. Louisiana-would be 1 but have to prove we can replace Anderson.
DB: ? No clue. We are talented, but no one has really lived up to the hype.

RE: Rank Your Units
The truly tricky thing here is grading out individual positions...

(For example) Georgia State could have the best 4 RB's (so the top of the position) in the league. But if they have the absolute worst O-Line, those backs won't look as good as say an average set of RBs at... Troy, who happens to have the best Line in the conference.

Personally? I'd put our RB's up against any in the conference. But I don't know if our line will let them show their talents. Oh, and it's probably some of the homer in me.

My unit has been just fine, but if it ever lets me down I'll just re-tool.
