CUSA can have that money losing nightmare. It will go well with the Hawai'i Bowl. At least for the Hawai'i Bowl, everyone doesn't need to have a passport.

Yes, but how many College Football Players currently have access to a passport?

If your team gets invited you will see 55 or whatever the number traveling teams roster is applications fast tracked for approval. Its almost as if people think that the people who came up with this bowl have not thought of these things. Heck I would think that if you are an offcial in the Athletic Department of a school in one of the two conferences tied into the game this December that you would start making arrangements from now just in case or at least by mid season if it looks like you might go bowling.

You can get a passport in 2 hours at a passport office. Its not that hard for the players. They'll just send someone with all the passport applications to Houston or Atlanta to get the passports.

It's not difficult to get a passport. In fact, it's downright easy.

When a team gets invited to the bowl? the university will make sure every player, coach, trainer, cheerleader, and probably key donors have their passports in hand well before the game.

What would you have to have done to NOT be eligible for a passport before your 22nd birthday and yet still be eligible to play on an FBS football team?

Hawaii may suck to get to but you don't need passports for everyone in the traveling party to get them there.

I went earlier this year there and it required either a passport or an official birth certificate.

Went on a boat?

Yep! I also have a passport.

That's why you didn't need a passport. Closed loop cruises (start and end at the same port) are exempt. Officially the Bahamas doesn't guarantee you can get off the boat but if they don't let you off the boat they don't get your money.

So yeah you can work with a cruise line or charter and put the team on a boat in Florida, send the team over play get back on the boat and come back without a passport, not sure that ends up being the most time or cost-efficient method.

Nothing. The question is whether the other country allows entry. Canada for example considers DWI/DUI to be an excludable offense and you have to write ahead with details and an explanation to enter Canada.

Expedited service costs an extra $60 per. There are 28 locations for expedited service. Not sure who did what to make it happen but one of those is in Hot Springs, AR

8 schools send MBB teams to Battle 4 Atlantis annually and I don't recall entry ever being an issue. A lot of folks poo pooing on this bowl but as I said last year, present your wife with a list of possible bowl cities and see which one jumps out. LOL. It will do fine and there will be plenty of footage shown in game of the teams' week of playing on the beach and enjoying the local culture.

So does the Pro Bowl's and half of bowl games.

That's why they play them. Sucks we are out of the rotation. I would have gone.

Great bowl for the players and fans that attend. Flights are usually cheap to the Bahamas as well...

Would have been cool if this bowl was sponsored by Carnival Cruise Lines or Royal Carribbean...and if they offered a cruise package that was part of it. I'm pretty sure you don't need passports when visiting a country on a cruise (though having passports are recommended) - but that might depend on on the countries in your ports of call.

I've only traveled on a passport when flying but never needed it when driving or boating, so I don't know for sure. But I thought it was all rather informal with organized groups. Isn't that you just need a birth certificate to get back into the States but its up to the country of entry on whether they want to let you in with whatever documentation they can get away with. I would imagine the Bahamas would be like this with these kids - charter in, pretend like the university is handling all the customs, then bus them to the hotel.

Shoot I use my passport when flying domestic. Seems to make playing with TSA a little easier.

Again, how are the 8 Battle 4 Atlantis schools handled? And this is Bahamas, a tourist destination that wants your money. You're likely to have more trouble getting back in the U.S. than getting into the Bahamas.

The schools going there for the basketball tournament have at least six months advance notice and a traveling party of around 20-25 to deal with.

The schools going there for a bowl will have 3 to 6 weeks notice and a traveling party of about 150.

Absolutely the same thing.

Yes because everyone going Onoz and OMG ever since this bowl was announced isnt drama. 07-coffee3

They arent real logistic problems. They are imagined logistic problems. If drunken college students can make it there and back easily weekly, I am sure the government of the Bahamas will make sure that two American college football teams make it there and back with zero inconvenience.

You've obviously got great experience dealing with 100+ college kids, lining up all the needed official documentation and submitting it and getting the whole thing done in a matter of weeks

I never said it couldn't be done. I said it was a hassle that wasn't worth it and you went jerk in response.
