If I were a betting man, I would bet Liberty 12th and NMSU all sports.

This. EKU too late to the party, and is not ready. Snap up the FBS school from the MAC and let these other schools get their sh*t together. We don't need them yet.

Reminds me of some old UL fans who long for the days playing McNeese, Lamar. Oh, man this is so sad.

The teams I long for App State to play from the old days are Wake Forest, East Carolina, and Marshall. Do you think we could get any of them in the conference?

Athletic directors do not make this call, presidents do. So unless the individual presidents are using the athletic directors as sounding boards nothing gets done about this.

If we are throwing a lifeline to umass football, I hope the deal includes a few basketball games with them. I wouldnt mind having them at our college park center. I bet the cajuns would like to have a game with them..home and homes with nmsu are good for us so I hope they are bringing in the rest of their sports.

Don't know AppMan or his sources, but he has stuck with this scenario through several rounds of gossip and speculation ever since UMass's MAC exit became public.

FWIW, one of, if not THE top "insider wingnut" on our GS board has mentioned the same scenario several times in the same timeframe.

Wouldn't surprise me at all.

RE: EKU making the right moves
It all depends on how important getting to 12 for the 2015 season is.

Liberty and UMass are the only options to accomplish this unless they want to stretch and rush EKU.

Liberty clearly doesn't have the votes as of today, if they did they would be in.

UMass as a short-term solution (much like the Idaho agreement) would be a stop gap while EKU, Mo. St., etc. continues to build.

You do know the SBC members have to meet to vote, right? That will happen in mid to late May. So, just because Liberty isn't in yet, does not mean they don't have they votes.

I would suspect the ADs are pulling all the info together right now to make a recommendation to the Presidents for their meeting next month.

Georgia Southern AD Tom Kleinlein was scheaduled to be at the Coaches Caravan Tour last night in Swainsboro GA.

People (people that do the voting) talk and as of 4/23/14 they do NOT have the votes. I don't have the vote count, but it isn't currently enough. You can hope and wish all you want but something is going to have to change in the next 3 weeks if Liberty wants in.

I would think a nice financial package could help sway a few votes. Liberty didn't build a $21,000,000 baseball stadium, upgraded their football stadium and are looking to build a new civic center for basketball to remain in the Big South.

I didn't add a pool, an entertainment room, and sand volleyball court to my house to hang out by myself either. Sometimes you can't control if others want to associate with you.

I personally like what Liberty is doing athletically (academically I do have issues with), but either way I don't get a vote. You guys might want to worry how the western members are voting.

By academically I assume you mean the online portion. Either way, we are Tier 6 accredited by SACCS which is the highest you can get so academically we are strong.

You are correct I don't like the online portion. I prefer to be in a conference of like-minded universities. One that 80% of alumni are of the on-line variety isn't very similar to mine.

Don't get off topic though. Votes aren't there for now.

Link? Source? I've heard some info that says otherwise. But I don't trust any of it on either side right now as it's all speculation. We shall see in late May.
