Articles? I don't need no stinkin' articles!

Come guys, use the gray matter a little. Klein was in Swainsboro Ga because App and Ga Southern are still members of the Southern Conference. They have no seat at the SunBelt table and can not vote on expansion.

While past performance can not be a guarantee future success (disclaimer), my sources are impeccable. They were right on the money with the JMU announcement last week and I expect the same this time around. An announcement may not come out of this meeting, but they are voting. The President's will have to make it official.

They are voting members on matters of realignment and any discussions involving 2014.

This. EKU too late to the party, and is not ready. Snap up the FBS school from the MAC and let these other schools get their sh*t together. We don't need them yet.

I don't get the Umass tied to NMSU all sports.
I am not against it in fact I'm for it because I want NMSU to do well.

The fact that they are football only now makes it suspect.
Texas State and UTA are already travel partners .
UTA is the Olympic sports partner of NMSU. .

Now a Umass paired with EKU for Olympic sports gives them time to prepare. UMASS could join as early as 2015 with no buyout. The savings from the playoff money is more than their buyout. Six to eight years more Southeastern teams will be ready .

One thing for sure what ever the decision some will *****.

In the efforts the Sunbelt has made to go to 12, first the flurry of moves to hit 12 that fell short when WKU left, and then the seeming efforts to woo JMU all-sports, which seem to have been successful in swaying the JMU administration but fell short with the BOV ...
... its been a balanced 12/12 in FB and Olympic Sports. The Sunbelt is presently looking at 11/11 in FB and Olympic Sports. Adding a FB-only and upgrading former all-sport member NMSU back to all-sports would make 12/12.

Make it a 6 year deal with UMass starting in 2015, and that gives aspiring schools plenty of time to get themselves ready for 2021.

I thought Ga. Southern and App would definitely vote on any proposed new member before June 1.

It is possible that App and/or GaSo has made their vote intentions known. The AD may not have been there but maybe their vote is known.

Benson made it perfectly clear that App State and Georgia Southern would vote on any expansion since being their joining the SBC was announced about a year ago.

This worries me, but no one will know who is the new member until an official announcement has been made and released to the public.

I don't recall hearing or reading that. They may be asked about their preferences, but I don't believe they can actually vote on SB membership as members of the Southern Conference.

I recall reading an article or hearing (maybe during the invite presser) something about that. App and Georgia Southern can vote on matters that concern the SunBelt after July 1. That includes expansion. If it's an issue concerning the SunBelt now or prior to July 1, then we don't have a vote.

Real GSU and AppState can vote on conference realignment matters and new members. 100% confirmed. Full voting members on July 1.

No its been reported multiple times. The Sun Belt is allowing App and GaSo vote on membership and anything that has an impact on the league after July 1, 2014.

EKU making the right moves
I'm a big proponent of EKU moving in, regain what we lost footprint wise with WKU and I see a lot of potential with the current leadership

Actually he has met with the team and told them he isn't taking the job.

I think it's a good move by him if he's staying put but...

the S. Miss job is another story, if they contact him with a offer. Either way he's on borrow time at EKU. He's too good of a coach for someone not to come after him. If not this year soon.

Just thought of something...

the WKU coaches knew weeks in advance about our move to C-USA. I wonder if that could be the case here also. But he might just look at the Marshall program as not being a good fit.

Well if this is the 6th eastern memeber then it looks like it will be business as usual for Georgia Southern and Appalachian State battling it out each year for the chance to play Louisiana or Arkansas State for the SBC Championship...I can deal with that.

That's how I envision things going as well. But I'm sure USA and Troy will have a thing or two to say about that. Count me as pro-UMass.
