Exclamation The Best Option for SBC football
I meant to place this here

The Best Option for SBC football is to go ahead and invite:

1. Missouri State - start playing in 2016
2. Texas Arlington (restart fully) - start playing in 2018
3. Florida Gulf Coast - start playing in 2018 (they have support)
http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2013/mar/...-football/

Place these schools in a hold pattern for possible expansion to 16 after 2020

4. Coastal Carolina (nice rivalry for Ga Southern)
5. Eastern Kentucky (nice fit in the footprint, nice rivalry with App State)

Then

6. Kennesaw State (nice replacement if USA or Ga State go to CUSA)
7. North Florida ( will be the last universty in florida without football after FGCU, will be ready to join FGCU)
8. Lamar (long shot but will be nice Texas Triange with Texas State, Texas Arlington....aka the Texas Three or the Three Amigos )

That was one of the most retarded things I have ever read on here and that's saying a lot.

Pretty much didn't have to open the thread to know what was going
to be advocated.

I was just surprised to see him let FGCU slip so far down the list. I expected him to have them #1 with a bullet followed by UNF.

Southeastern (FL) will be added to the SB before FGCU.

RE: The Best Option for SBC football
The best thing for the SBC to do is to first secure that 12th member (whoever that ends up being) so the football divisions can be even and a CCG can be staged ASAP. I don't know how much, but ESPN will pay something for it and it gives the teams, divisions, and conference exposure.

Next, the concept is simple. Just make the conference the best it can be and get tough. Support each other against OOC opponents, and create great rivalries - these will develop naturally. With any luck a SBC team starts to get some top 25 votes and we are off to rivaling the other G5 conferences.
Easier said than done, but this should be the plan.

Kennesaw state will never be in the SBC. And shouldn't be considered. They are awful at everything. Only thing they are decent at is softball. And it's not even that great.

Only thing KSU would bring is the Atlanta market.

Kennesaw State isn't bringing the Atlanta market with them. GSU doesn't even have the Atlanta market.

Are you trying to get enough teams to have the Sun Belt split like the WAC/MWC did?

I doubt if any current or new member considers any of those schools a peer..

Seems like it. Not sure how a 19 team conference works ... maybe UMass got added temporarily somewhere to even tihngs out pre -split.

FGCU is about as hilarious as magically getting UTA to restart football for FBS by 2018. It took South Alabama years just to get football approved.

40 more days and we will either have a 12th fb team or this will start over again after football season next year.

Our best move would be to dump Karl and Idaho and play with 10.

Karl is the kiss of death.

RE: The Best Option for SBC football
I wouldn't mind downsizing to 10 but from every comment I have read, both from Benson and from various sources around the Sun Belt, it seems the intent is still to get to 12 by June 1.

Every day that passes by however makes me think we stay at 11 for this year at least.

How does KSU bring the ATL market if JSU doesn't bring the B'ham market?

When I read the first post, I had to check the date to make sure the thread wasn't started on April 1...
