Oh, they have money? Well, it was never explained like this before. By all means, let 'em in.
Have you not seen the commercials? They are selling degrees online like they are going out of style.

I don't know of a conference that wouldn't allow Liberty in for $100 million for per team. Make it happen! We got some more renovations to do on our stadium.

With that kind of money Georgia State just might be able to buy the Ted.

asupatch go ahead and enroll for your masters and find out if they are just bought or earned. A friend of mine walks May 10th with her's. She said she had to flat out bust her azz to earn it. She holds a bachelor's in education from UNCG. Said Liberty online worked her over harder than UNCG. Being a Christian she said the prayer support from her LU mentors was very encouraging. Her husband holds an AS in criminal justice, he's retired military and is using his LU Mil. discount to work on his BA. It's no cake walk, he's a full time probation officer and she's a school teacher.

Seriously, They could look at providing the conference with $ and call it a "TV Deal". Any games that ESPN would allow them to put on their network would cost them say 1Million/game to the Conference that would be divided among all Football playing members.
Say they get 4 games per year on. 4 Million divided by 11 teams = about 363,000 a year. Would be nice Coaching stipend to help hold onto our Coaches/ keep continuity in our coaching staffs and help us all perform better on the field.
? Just thinking outside the box -

Though don't start negotiating pre-compromised ... start with $3m per broadcast, minimum 4 games guaranteed, and go from there. That's an extra $1m/school plus the $1m+/school from the CFP pool.

Has Liberty scheduled games against BYU, SMU, Baylor, Notre Dame, or Boston College? It would be the Christian thing to do.

Actually scheduling games against people who had no association with Jesus would be the Christian thing to do. I think you're confused.

Liberty is scheduled to play football against Baylor in 2017. LU has played Notre Dame in basketball. I don't remember playing SMU or Boston College.

Nope. Your thinking is confused. Think about it a little longer. It might hurt but try it. Go on...

Benson said a few weeks ago that Coastal Carolina was no longer being considered by the SBC.
I believe that Coastal Carolina made a statement a few months ago that it was not interested in FBS at all at this time.
So it really sounds like if we took Liberty's facilities and put them at Coastal Carolina, EKU's AD and shipped him to Coastal Carolina, and then shipped Benson to... Timbuktu... It'd be a slam dunk.
Rev, that was a good one!

I believe that they have plenty of liquid assets to move up. Their problem is that they are not allowed to move up without an invitation. The only possible way for them to get an invitation is convince a conference whose members don't have plenty of liquid assets to invite them.
They need to be allowed to enter FBS as an independent. They have the cash for it. If they are not allowed to enter FBS as an independent then they need to sue...and I think they would win.
I think it would be good for the Sun Belt to offer some sort of scheduling agreement with Liberty if they entered as an independent.
1.2 billion in liquid cash? Thats really not a Sun Belt number.
Excellent point and likely the scenario if LU does not get an invite. If LU feels it has no other options, then litigation is a likely action. Would the NCAA want to challenge their suit? I'll bet not. As SB is the best possible invite at this time, and CUSA and MAC are not in the mix (as we know it), if no invite this, or at latest next year, then expect LU to become very aggressive wanting to become FBS by challenging the rules, likely as an independent. It could happen.

If you are going for those schools that have expressed their Christianity in their football, heathen UMass would be a good example. In most games, after being beat up in the first half, they turned the other cheek in the second half.

Maybe they should become very aggressive at being successful at the FCS level first.

I'm all for Liberty in the Sun Belt, but I do wonder why, with those nice facilities and deep pockets, they haven't been able to be more successful in FCS. Maybe Mr. Gill can turn that around.

What's their all-time record in the FCS playoffs, again?
I guess they once ended the season at #14, which goes part of the way to explaining why so many FBS conference are fighting to be the one to invite Liberty.

One cannot dispute LU has had very little success in the FCS beyond a couple of trips to the NCAA BB tournament and no FCS FB playoff appearances. The other side of the coin is check out their home FB schedules. App, JMU are likely the biggest games they have ever played at LU. As strong as both of those schools are, and have been in the past, LU playing a very weak Big South conference has not helped. If one puts all merit into LU's past FB performance, one can easily not agree to accept them due to modest success. There home attendance could easily increase 30-40-50% with an upgraded slate. I do not attend the Brevard, lower conference/non-conference games. They are pitiful.
No playoff appearances is a bugaboo that will only be removed when LU earns one. It is a valid argument. When Danny Rocco, prior coach took over a program that was a disaster, and began to win (in the Big South), it was a big step. Now with Turner Gill, there is an anticipation and hope, with the fans and the administration to excel that was not present in the past. LU does not have the past success, and big signature wins (App/Michigan, JMU/VA Tech) and that is a problem. But with their assets, a very motivated administration, an excited fan base (as exhibited here and at games), they do have a tremendous up-side.
