This would make more sense if maybe the Russel Athletic Bowl had kept the AAC as the champions bowl.
Not sure about that. If both the championship game and the champion's bowl are in Orlando, attendance at the champion's bowl will suffer because few supporters of the winning team will want to travel to Orlando twice within a 3-4 week period.

I agree with this. One has to wonder how soon until they pack up the office in Providence and move down to Orlando.
Someone else mentioned UC's travel in bowl games. We have a lot of alumni and city of Cincinnati transplants who live in Georgia and Florida who could easily make the trek. They've made trips to regular season games at USF so I would imagine a trip to Orlando for a conference championship would not be out of the question.

Why would you do this when so many schools have new/nearby great facilities and great travel locations? Memphis? New Orleans?
Just odd to me.

Ditto. Everything I have seen on the subject of a CCG is that it will be played at the site of the team with the best record (or highest ranked, if a tie).

RE: Aresco set to announce Orlando as permanent location for AAC football champ game
For a P5 conference having a neutral site CCG has not worked well. For a G5 conference is even worse. Plus it requires the fanbases for those two schools travel twice in large numbers in a single season. This is going to cause a reduction in our bowl attendance. There is only so many dollars a fanbase can spend. This is an absolutely horrendous idea. I can't imagine we would do this.

If you can't use a dome like the SEC, B1G, Big XII, ACC then you must pick a warm weather spot. SMU had an ice storm and cincy was 10 degrees in a 10 day period around when the game would have been played this year.
Imagine the debacle if UCF @ SMU would have been the championship game this year.

This would be a terrible idea. Football needs to be at higher ranked home team. First, for attendance and TV. And second, because the league should really be trying to support the top ranked team against all the other "G5" schools.

If this the truth?! I sure hope not! Bad idea! Bad, bad bad. First off, the Russell Athletic Bowl drops affiliation with league, secondly, see the ACC's history with championship games in Florida. Dumb, terrible decision if true.

Just to clarify, I'm not picking on Cincinnati folks; I just chose Cincy and Houston in my example because they seem like the strongest two teams IMHO. ECU wouldn't travel all that well to a title game & a bowl game back-to-back either.
Nobody in this area (Raleigh, NC) travels better than Virginia Tech does, and they didn't even travel well to the ACC championships games when they were in Florida. Tech fans I know said they didn't want to take on the expense of travelling to Florida for the ACC title game and then turning around and travel back to Florida for the Orange Bowl (yes, they always assumed they'd win the ACC game, lol).
It's not small-time to have the title game on a campus; the Pac 12 does it. It is a great reward for the team with the best record and the best way to get the most fans to show up.

Just messing with you guys on a late April fools joke. I'm pretty sure the plan is in place for the highest seeded AAC team to host. I was shocked at the 2 year Amway Center deal for the AAC basketball tourney.

I wouldn't let poll rankings determine it. I'd go first with better conference record, then head to head (if applicable), then if still tied alternate between divisions each year (if last year the game was held at the home of the eastern division* champ, then this year it is at the west's).
* or whatever our divisions are.

Crazy part is that it seemed like something the AAC would do....and don't worry about your rep score...it's just a number

If the CCG deregulation passes, which it should, there won't be divisions.

lol! That is why the timing was perfect for the joke and it is the off season. I'm ready for my rep score to take a dip.
