Bob Quin award tonight
Andrew Murphy, a catcher for the Owls took home the 2014 Bob Quin Award, given annually to Rice Athletics' most outstanding all-around senior male athlete. The award honors Quin, a well-respected Rice student-athlete who passed away during an Atlantic voyage in 1930. The Shreveport, La. native is a reserve catcher that has played a crucial role in preparing one of the top pitching staffs in the nation. Murphy has helped the Owls claim Conference USA titles and NCAA Tournament berths in each of his three full seasons. He was honored as Rice’s C-USA Spirit of Service Award winner in 2012 for completing more than 100 service hours in that academic year alone. Murphy is also a fixture on the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and was the program’s 2013 Rice Scholar Athlete.

RE: Bob Quin award tonight
I thought last night's presentation was great and I was happy to see Andrew win the Bob Quin award.
The female winner was Dominique Harmath who really deserves to win the Joyce Hardy award as the top female athlete. She has been on a roll lately by winning her last eleven matches including her match yesterday against Baylor when she played the No. 51 player in the country.
The last home match for the women (and the last scheduled match at Jake Hess) is Sunday at 11:00 a.m. against UTSA. I know any support for the team would be greatly appreciated. If you have the time and can make it out, come a few minutes early and see this year's seniors being introduced and honored before the match.
