I don't think I have ever turned to NBC Sports. I presume that DirecTV carries it?

Yes. I actually like NBCSN. I've found watching Premier League games hungover is a good, mindless activity and I like the NHL as well (Caps unfortunately), which NBCSN does a great job of showing games. It's also not a giant Lakers/LeBron circle jerk like ESPN is, so it is very refreshing to get sports news from another source.

@DreadPirateHowl I never said JMU or Missouri State are receiving Sun Belt invites. They are the top 2 schools for potential invites.

Brent Thibodeaux ‏@BrentThibodeaux 16h

Sources have told me the #SunBelt 12th school hopefuls are in this order. First #JMU followed by #MissouriState & #Liberty in a distant 3rd.

But, your point stands. FCS is not followed outside of FCS schools.

Were those TV games on ESPN last year? I watch college football all day every Saturday and not once did I see an JMU game. When I say national TV, I means a Thursday night game on ESPN against another FBS team during primetime!

National on NBC Sports on Saturdays. Some primetime included, but 2nd rate network.

That's not national. That's regional. I'm talking the only game on that night during primetime hours on ESPN. You'll learn the difference when you actually move to FBS.

Nope, NBCSN is national. Like a poster said before, it reaches more homes than ESPNU does. I've had three different cable companies in the last three years in two different cities and they've all had NBCSN.

I think you are thinking of Comcast Sports Net which is affiliated with NBC, but has regional channels. I.e. CSN Baltimore, CSN Philly, CSN New England just to name a few.

I'm not talking ESPNU either. I'm talking ESPN2 on a Thursday night when you are the only game on TV during primetime. I have no idea why the ULM fan just assumed I was talkin about ESPNU. My cable company doesn't have NBCSN. It does however have ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN NEWS, and ESPN3 for internet broadcast.

Nobody on here claimed he said they recieved an invite. The invite info came from someone else.

It isn't like a conference sends out a letter asking a school to check yes or no. There will be no "invitation" until after the fact.

And that is not the same twitter user I saw. If you go back to the first page another poster pasted the link.

Bear Boulevard @BearBoulevardFollowReports are saying that Missouri State and JMU have been invited to the Sun Belt Conference. Could FBS football be coming to #sgf soon?

RE: Reports out of missouri saying JMU and MSU recieved invite
I do wonder if this is a terminology issue:

Odds are good no formal invitation has been sent out (as it would be a done deal). But odds are well, TREMENDOUS that the Sun Belt has told MSU/JMU that they have an offer just waiting to go out in the mail, but they have to say yes.

So, they really do have an invite, just not an OFFICIAL one.

EDIT: I also believe that Benson has said that Liberty has an invite as well. I just think Benson is putting more faith in the pull he has with the university presidents.

(and no, there is no insider information here. Just taking a guess)

This whole thing is so fluid right now, come this time tomorrow it wouldn't surprise me to have Montana & Montana State on the "invited" list.

I don't think the situation is fluid and don't think it has been fluid.

Let's backtrack.

We've got an AD quote stating the league has voted to expand by 12. That could be interpreted at least three ways.

1. We are going to 12 and know who #12 is but ain't sayin'
2. We have voted to go to 12 by X date no matter who we have to take.
3. We have agreed that 12 is the right number and we have agreed to seriously talk with schools to see who, if anyone, is the right fit (ie. capable of the move, wants to move, is acceptable to all 11 or at least 9 of 11)

I think the fluidity has been a combination of speculation and rumor by people assuming the correct reading is #1 or #2, when the evidence I think suggests the correct reading is #3.

The Liberty Sun Belt tour is ample evidence that all the prior claims of Liberty being imminent were baseless. You don't go campaigning if that were true.

The claims of UMass being expelled suddenly changing the dynamic are specious. I know that AState leadership was aware of the UMass situation within a day or two of the MAC extending the full offer to UMass, it is implausible that the rest of the league was unaware. Therefore any impact UMass might have had on the situation took place nearly a month prior to the public announcement but the "insider" claims acted as if the news was new to the Sun Belt and significant enough to adjust the thinking on realignment when any adjustment would have happened nearly a month earlier and been reflected in the "insider" information, even if the cause of the change were not revealed.

Likewise, it is not plausible that the reported claims that JMU thinking changed upon the UMass announcement are accurate. If JMU were actively engaged with the MAC, they would have had some awareness of the MAC's action and even if the MAC held some fantastic hope of acceptance, the probability would be that if the Sun Belt is in active pursuit of JMU that the Sun Belt would have dashed that for JMU by giving indication that UMass was in active pursuit of Sun Belt membership thereby revealing UMass's choice.

The evidence strongly suggests the smoke has merely been hot air.

Those are from JMU's football beat reporter.

Georgia Southern had "no invite" until the press conference. Just saying.

And technically our comment from administrators is that we 'have still not received an offer'

Posted from my mobile device using the CSNbbs App

Yea WKU's admin. said same thing and than the press conf. was scheduled next day....

It used to be called "Versus"

Before that it was "Outdoor Life"

It is a National Network but sometimes is relegated to a sports tier.
