My man any true BBQ fan knows no BBQ is complete without the high crab sides of mashed potatoes, mac n cheese and corn bread; baked beans and slaw are good too but you need the whole package.

Yeah but I'd rather travel to KC.

Georgia State will be just fine. And they'll probably beat you guys like a drum when you open at the Georgia Dome in a year. 05-mafia

The Valley is paranoid about keeping the public/private school balance constant. If a public school left, I can't see them replacing it with a private one unless there isn't much other choice.

They have already been leaving Wichita State & Missouri State on an island enough. It would be better to add to the west. If it were me, I would add North Dakota State and South Dakota State and then you keep the balance enough to add Oral Roberts too and replace Missouri State with 3 schools in the west to have enough football schools to bring that league in house should you ever want to. You also give Wichita State more close rivals.

They will probably stick to their large market strategy and if they don't go to Tulsa because it is a private school, they will look at Kansas City for UMKC which is a cruddy school without its own endowment or perhaps the University of Nebraska at Omaha to recreate what they had with Creighton even though it will take forever to get that if they ever manage it.

I ate at Dreamland this summer. WOW. Cool building. Neat neighborhood but I couldn't detect any smoke flavor. Ribs were drenched in sauce and they were tough like they had been cooked to done rather than done cooking. Well cooked rib meat comes off the bone with a slight tug, it shouldn't be a fight.

I see a move for Missouri State to the SBC making a lot more sense if you could somehow get a FB only invite BUT it may also depend on how progressive the leadership is at Missouri State.

If the leadership is progressive enough they might just jump at a full invite to the SBC on the premise of doing what they need to do to put themselves in a position of upgrading to a better conference in the next 5-10 years.

Long range Missouri State could join CUSA or if CUSA splits they have a great chance of linking up with the western based group. If they don't take an offer to move up however they'll be left behind when then occurs.

RE: Football only invites unlikely
Here is an idea I like; Missouri State, Eastern Kentucky, James Madison

Benefits:

1. Get the league up to 14 in membership in case there is another raid by CUSA in advance of its next contract. Protection of the membership.

2. Make it less likely that CUSA could add Missouri St and JMU to go to 16 by the simple fact that they have just committed to transitioning with the SBC.

3. Having an eastern division of 7 teams including EKU is more appealing for JMU than an eastern division of 6 without them, IMO.

4. Adding 3 schools at once would increase the chances of ESPN executing a conference look in and determining there is more value.

Another way to do this is just to add EKU/JMU this year and then wait another 1-2 years once the CUSA TV deal is in place it will strike fear into the heart of Missouri State to accept an offer as the 14th or otherwise face the possibility of being left out of the parade.

I'm guessing you're still thinking the CUSA is a step up? I give it only a couple more years until that silly notion is gone.

A different idea.......why not add 3 schools in the East?

SBC East: Liberty, JMU, EKU, App St, Georgia St, Georgia So, Troy
SBC West: USA, ULL, ULM, Arkansas St, Texas St, NMSU, Idaho

If I'm James Madison and I can get Liberty/EKU to join in the football conference with me that helps to lower my travel cost. JMU can still play ODU non-conference and maintain its edge on Liberty.

The idea of Liberty being a 5th Virginia FBS school isn't as relevant in their case because they recruit all over the South.

I'm only in favor of adding a 13th if we pass a resolution forcing all members playing football to convert to all sports members by 2016. Meaning. NMSU comes for all sports and Idaho finds a more appropriate place to play.

No hate on Idaho. But location is a problem and the Kibbie Dome is a BIG problem.

In the eyes of Missouri State or JMU its probably still viewed as a step up because the schools have more athletic tradition, particularly at UTEP, Rice, So Miss, UAB and Marshall.

It takes a while to get the right coaches in place at the FBS level, the facilities you need ect....that is the real advantage of the AAC is its a group of schools that have been trying to carve out a name for themselves for a long while and have names people recognize in athletics.

Yea, but they weren't playing UNC Pembroke Pines. They got better as the season went on. They'll be no pushover next year.

My aunt used to live in Statesboro, literally everyone on my paternal side is a Furman grad, I've been to a few games there and the BBQ is real good actually prefer the Tangy-er BBQ to the sweet Missouri flavor

The following seems consistent with what I was told earlier today.

@BearBoulevard: Reports are saying that Missouri State and JMU have been invited to the Sun Belt Conference.
Hmmm
