I'm guessing McCanna. I think McDowell (on Sundays) and, especially Fox on Saturdays, have been too good and consistent for The OG to risk disrupting things at this point. No way McDowell pitches on two days less rest than normal; especially when he threw 6 innings on Sunday, including one inning after a 75 minute rain delay. We need Ditman to regain his old form, and for both McCarthy and Orewiler to step up and make big time contributions.

Anyone else coming to NOLA for the game? Will be interesting to see how big the Rice contingent is. My wife and I were *this close* to contacting the alumni office to host a saturday tailgate at our house (we literally live 1 block from the field), but sadly our bout of renovations took longer than hoped, so didn't happen.

I'll guess that McDowell gets the Friday start and Deplantier on Sunday. I think that Graham will go with experience for the Friday start. Tulane has a regular Game 1 (Friday) starter and a regular Game 2 (Saturday) starter but has struggled to find effective pitching for Game 3.

Too big of a risk to ask McDowell to come back with 2 days less than usual rest. Unless he goes with Fox on Friday, and I can't see him changing anything with Blake at the moment, it's likely going to be McCanna on Friday.

I have no inside info to offer, but my guess is Fox on Friday. You can't sweep if you don't win on Friday...

Yes, but if we lose when Blake pitches, it will be awfully difficult to win the weekend series, which is a MUST this week.

You win Friday first.
Then you win Saturday.
Then you win Sunday.
It's pretty simple.

I believe in Fox and McDowell. They will do their best to put Rice in the best position to win the weekend series. I don't think there is anything magical about Fox pitching on Saturday's. I don't hold back my best pitcher to pitch on Saturday. Sorry, I just don't do that. Let the big guy pitch his normal game but on Friday. That will be enough.

I am starting to warm on Dittman as the Friday night starter. Traditionally, Tulane has trouble with the curve. Dittman has a nice curve.

It doesn't matter, I am feeling one of those magical Rice pitching weekends coming on...Note to self, buy Lotto...

RE: So who starts Friday night against Tulane?
This is why we pay WG the big bucks. He gets to make the big decisions. We sit back and enjoy (hopefully) the fruits of his wisdom and experience. After (or for some, during) the game, we get to hopefully go on and on here about WG's wisdom and experience. If WG's big decisions don't work out, we'll go on and on here about what he should have done differently.

Someone once said here "in Wayne we trust". I'm good with that.

Go Owls!

As I suspected, it's McCanna (at least according to the Tulane game notes). I'll post the preview shortly.
