RE: SBC Guide for Friends
Not disagreeing, I see what you did there with the state/state thing.

We are just going to have to fight our way to the top around here (if we can) and that's a good thing.

(Assuming this is about football.)
Just to draw some connections, the SoCon has been considered the SEC of the FCS - Regardless of the CAA's claims. I consider them to be more of the Big10 of the FCS. Note: Most of the SEC and ACC were born out of the SoCon which lends itself more to this.

We have been considered the Alabama of the FCS for a few reasons.
(By who? I don't know, lets just call it me! 04-cheers And a few sports casters)
1. Most National Championships (Back to Back multiple times)
2. Lot's of Conference titles (note: we were independent until 1993)
3. At one point we were called "The Blue Tide". Is our uniform similarities just by chance? "I don't think so". Both, just plain and simple, Classic clean look right down to the grey face mask.

Well wrap it up there, cant wait to see our guys get on the field and test our skills. Hate doing this with a new coach/system. Should be fun though.

Man, I remember being a young and impressionable kid, and being taken to an LSU home football game. I saw an entire row of people throw their plastic drink cups (filled) at the opposing cheerleaders after the opposing team scored a touchdown (not the student section).

The last time I went to Cajun Field (2011) the students in the front row dumped beer on the band as they were walking back from halftime. Like father, like son, I guess.

Throwing beer at someone is Cajun for "I like you!"

Cool! I'll bring an empty cup and a lot of compliments to the game next year! 04-cheers

If your band members were talking trash like your football players, I can understand why drunk students would go that far. I don't like it, but trash talking seems to escalate things on and off the field.

I can honestly say this was a time they were not. The students in the front row were obviously drunk or well on their way. They were obnoxiously pointing to the scoreboard and yelling out the 24-3 halftime score.

At this point in the growth of the conference, some of the Trojan faithful will have to admit that some of this comes from a certain karma surrounding our rise and subsequent fall, to the chagrin of all Trojans and the delight of everyone else. I don't condone the violence, but some of the grief has been self-inflicted. Not me, of course, but I've seen it before...04-bolt

I kind of like corn dogs every now and then. I'd just hope our fans are more rational.

LSU fans do love to throw stuff though. When I went to the LSU-Ohio State BCS championship game, AT&T had filled half the stadium with red pompoms and half with yellow. Before the game started as people were arriving at their seats, if they were LSU fans and had received a red one, the heaved it toward the field. Would have sucked sitting in the lower deck before the game.

Making a reference guide for friends so when they ask about SBC programs, they all watch the SEC so I wanted to give a SBC/SEC comparison to make the conversation quick

Alabama- Troy (Most Conference Championships)
Florida- Louisiana (Has on of the best game day atmosphere's and in one of best recruiting areas)
LSU-Arkansas State (annual conference contender with great recent success)
Georgia- Georgia Southern (great location, great potential, great history)
Auburn- Appalachian State (tremendous home field environment, exciting programs, tons of recent success and history)
Arkansas- Texas State (Programs that both failed to reach their potential thus far)
Texas A&M- USA (program on the rise and bright futures)
Mississippi State- New Mexico State (#2 teams in home state's both under perform)
Ole Miss- ULM (academics are important, mid pack program)
Kentucky- Georgia State (bball)
Vanderbilt- Idaho
(now that James Franklin is gone, Vandy will return to their Idaho ways)

You're seriously comparing TXST; a 2nd year FBS team, to Arkansas? Not our fault they have been rubbish all this time in IA/FBS.

Not that students get a free pass, but I did point out that it was not the LSU student section. Way to be that guy though.

Sounds like some of the frat rats, they can get out of hand at times. Police should do a better job when it comes to those guys getting whipped up into a frenzy after their tailgate parties.

I've been on the sidelines for two Troy/UL games, they get after each other pretty hard.

Besides incidents like that, Cajun Field is beyond the best atmosphere in the belt. In 2011 right before kickoff I remember thinking it was borderline SEC in terms of loudness and intensity. No where in the SBC comes close.

If you meant teams in/were in the belt in 2011 then my bad, as far as I'm concerned it could be true over the new teams as well, but I'm not certain that's why I commented.

I just don't understand with how beautiful a location (I lived in San Antonio for two years) and recruiting location Texas state has not had more football success.
