Parking Situation on SBC Campuses
Who charges for parking for sporting events on campus? If so whats the fee?

For NMSU parking is free. There are areas for Athletic club members who get a pass to park closer.

Parking for UL is both free, and paid. Premium on site parking is paid, and you have to be a member of the RCAF. no not the Royal Canadian Air Force, but the Ragin Cajun Athletic Foundation. The free parking is no more than a ten minute walk or less to any sport.

Parking on USA campus is free. You have to have a parking pass to park at Ladd Stadium for football games. You can park at the mall and take a shuttle instead for $2.50 round trip.

So the parking around the basketball arena is first come first served, or do you have to be member of some booster group to get the best parking?

My parking at Cajun Field has no cost, but comes with RCAF and season tickets. I got neither and I get to park elsewhere, same for basketball.

Damn near a hundred acres around Cajun Field is considered premium parking with hundreds of paid tailgating areas. You need that even if you are not currently getting it

ASU Has Premium parking for Football and Basketball that can be purchased by Season Ticket Holders. Regular patrons can park for free, but must park farther from the stadium. People complain about it yearly in basketball because the Premium lot is often empty, yet no one can park in it without a parking pass.

RE: Parking Situation on SBC Campuses
ULM parking is free at the basketball arena but be warned ....the parking lot is so messed up it's like driving over a million little bumps

ASU had $10 parking in the field down from the stadium on the home side...AVOID it! park for free at the basketball arena and it will/could be a closer walk. If you get there early they will direct you to the back of the lot. I don't know if it's legal but if you find a open spot you can pull right off the road onto the grass. There are some pay lots off E Johnson Rd also.

UL-L free parking at the basketball arena and a easy walk under the tunnel to the visitor side

Texas St we used handicap parking and parked in the lot right beside the stadium on the visitor side cost us $10. There are other lots by the stadium and across the street by the rail road tracks

USA will scare the crap out of some people because of the neighborhood. Pay no attention to it because you and your car will be safe. If you have a handicap pass you can park in the lot right by the stadium. My wife had to stay at the hotel because her back was hurting so I didn't feel right about using it. We parked for $5 about two blocks away in a lot with a guard. There's a ton of houses that open their yards for parking...mostly $10 close to the stadium.

GSU was $5 right across from the stadium in a private lot. You can park in the event lot for $10 but it's a farther walk

Troy was a pay lot but I can't remember the cost I'm going to say $5 and it was a long walk..on second thought that was behind the stadium we found a lot with in a 1/2 block in front of the stadium for $10

For the last 2 years we parked at the Mitchell Center for the WKU basketball game

As a matter of fact we parked for free at UL-L, ULM, ASU, UALR, Troy, GSU, TXST, UTA for basketball.... some of those were in lots that said permit only and yes we asked first. UTA has a nice free parking garage right beside the arena so does GSU

You have to be a member of the Dugout Club to park in the lot directly in front of Stanky Field. You have to have a parking pass to park directly in front of the Mitchell Center. But there is a ton of parking spots around to find a spot and the walk isn't far.

From Mitchell Center Website:
Parking is available in all areas surrounding the Mitchell Center for special events. There are 450 parking spaces on the immediate site of the facility. There are 2,000 spaces located within a 5-minute walk and an additional 2,000 parking spaces within a 10-minute walk.

Ladd's supposedly bad neighborhood is way overblown. Its working class and not-white. That doesn't mean its some anachronism from some gang movie. I've never heard of any crime of any kind that has happened to any patron or their vehicle attending an event at Ladd. People walk to nighttime events there. Its two blocks from a good neighborhood and five blocks from a very nice and expensive neighborhood. Ladd is not Legion Field. Basically, unless you are handicapped, you have to pay to park. Either 5 or 10 bucks. I usually grab some barbeque from the people having cookouts on their front yard to sell to passers-by. Its not complicated there. And the parking usually is really quite convenient. You just are parking in someones front yard instead of in a lot. That being said, if you stay on the North Side of the stadium, its not as jarring to those expecting an (ahem) suburban outside the stadium experience. The people who rent out their lawns as parking want people to come back and park in their yard. Your car is probably safer in their yard than it would be in a traditional stadium parking lot.

At Texas State you have to pay for football. I think we paid 10 bucks.

you have to pay to park with a handicap pass too, it just simply allows you to pay for a pass on game day.

Parking Situation on SBC Campuses
Most of the on campus parking for app is tailgate city for football, can usually park downtown for either free or 5-10 downtown Boone is only about .5 miles from KiddBrewer; before further stadium expansion we need to build atleast 1 if not 2 large parking garages, being literally built into a mountain creates real parking problems for events that average almost 30k... If you come for Basketball, don't worry about parking, you can find plenty of it on those days and find it free, baseball has a good enough parking lot that you will find free for that as well, I recommend the actual parking lot at the stadium or you will have atleast a mile walk up a steep hill; it's on pretty much a plateau.

Remember also, you can't just get stadium parking. You have to give to get.

RE: Parking Situation on SBC Campuses
There are several lots around campus that are free to park in for visitors and a bus will take them to the stadium, as well as back to the lot after the game. The lots closest to the stadium are booster only now.

I think we'll have a Gameday website up and running closer to the season that'll have all the information on it that visiting fans can check out.

Parking around the stadium is $10. Closer spots for donors. Free parking on campus and take a bus. But I think they stick the visitors tailgate on the backside of campus so its kind of isolated. Probably easier at some point to just pay the $10. Or you can get there early enough and park on streets in neighborhoods for free and walk 10-15 mins.

RE: Parking Situation on SBC Campuses
I know nothing of the caliber of the neighborhood around Ladd other than it's old small homes with small yards and the residents work hard to get your business (one at least for the bowl) offers a free hot dog if you pay to park, I know one or two will set up "fair food" type trailers to sell to people walking in and I can't imagine it would be any more expensive or of worse quality compared to what is offered at the stadium. I've always parked in the stadium lot, its reasonably priced and abundant. If you manage to time things right you can fall in behind a band charter bus and make great time getting to the stadium.

At AState, I'm expecting that donor parking is going to expand because of the growth of season ticket sales. The newer student housing is closer to the stadium so students are much more inclined to walk now and that helps. There is $10 parking close but as our WKU friend noted, you can park about as close for free at the basketball arena or baseball field and it's very common to see people street parking on Johnson Avenue.

On our first game trip to USA my wife and I took a cab to the stadium. After the game we were still at the stadium way after the game and in fact after the team bus had left. We probably waited an hour for a cab. At no point did I feel like I was in some dangerous neighborhood or that it was not safe.

Of course you did not, you used to Atlanta where bodies show up all the time. Seems perfectly safe and at home huh?

A typical response and I guess I echo Tom's response. We know that a lot of people equate urban and non-white with unsafe and since Atlanta is largely both there must be bodies turning up just because you say so.
