Maybe they will surprise me but I wouldn't bet the house on it.

Honestly, I could realistically see the Bobcats ending up anywhere between 3-7. Chips fall our way a few times, the new defensive coordinator is able to motivate some of the JUCO DL... IMO the SBC is unknowable. It is all a crapshoot every season. Every year someone comes out of nowhere to compete. Favorites still seem to hang on but as time goes on they are no longer favorites, ask Troy, and N Texas both had long runs of being the elite. Right now stAte is that team, having shared or owned the last three.

Georgia St is going to get over looked. They are going to be better as they showed last year. I fixed the percentages.

GSU won't finish 9th but we won't finish in the top 4 either. Matter of fact, I predict nobody in the initial poster's picks will finish where predicted. I predict a topsy turvy year with many upsets and all three top schools (UL, stAte, and USA) out of the Top 3.

I think because our athletic department has begun to brand us as GS, and even our university marketing has caught on and will often use GS instead of GSU. @GSAthletics @GSAthleticsFB @GSAthleticsBB, etc. I have no qualms with Gaso or Gast, even though they both sound like bowel movements.

Branding is one thing, clarity on what posters are talking about is another. GS I may know you mean GaSo, but majority of posters would not. GaSo tells it all though. Gets confusing really.
Could just call yourselves what we call you, but you are not going to do that. We wouldn't want to call ourselves what you guys call us either.

You guys got better as the year progressed. Here's why few are seeing that translate into y'all moving into the top half of the standings

1) Its not reasonable to assume that the arc of progression is a straight line and you will continue to improve at the same rate as you were towards the end of the season.

2) You still got smoked in your last game last year, at home, against a 6-6 team. Getting to the top 5 would mean that you would have a winning or tying conference record. So lets just say 4 conference wins is what it will take to get to 5th place

Where are your 4 wins? I'm not saying you couldn't get 4 wins. But it would be a surprise. It would involve upsetting at least one of @USA, @ULL, Arkansas State, Texas State, or @Troy. That would also assume that you would win over Georgia Southern, NMSU, and @App.

I think you guys will be better. But I see 3-5 (4-8) in the conference as your likely baseline goal as the marker of a successful season next year. I think you will end up with 3 wins next year (2-6 in the conference). You could surprise, but it not likely that you will. It happens. No one thought that USA was going to make any waves until we beat WKU (which was shocking at the time).

There's a difference between playing better than expected in a loss and actually winning the game. We, at USA, know that all too well.

Will admit GaSt is getting stronger, but they had a heck of an uphill battle going.
New coach last year, Trent Miles, helped, but they are still going in the wrong direction.
Now they reached the bottom last year so either have to improve or stay at the same level.
Best thing for Georgia State, their record cannot get any worse. Unless they decided to play
Hawaii and get a 13th game.
