VT is not Michigan in terms of history, but they're still a very respectablepprogram and went 11-3 that year and won the ACC.

I'm an outsider, but I'd say this is Best Case (and unreasonable)

1) Add JMU, MSU, and UMASS ALL SPORTS
2) Kick out Idaho and NMSU football
3) Kick out UALR and UTA (seriously, why have basketball only members?)
4) tell liberty to quit applying
5) have rest of SB make more serious commitments to basketball. you are a FBS conference and yet ranked 20th in the RPI, that's pathetic.

He says they consider the proximity of food, lodging and transportation to the campus "a blessing" for travel purposes.

I looked at the factbook and it appears that ESPN3 has approached Liberty and asked to carry all of LFSN’s programming next year (page 24 in the booklet). It said something about it being able to reach 120 million homes. All that stuff is over my head. Either way it's a good read.
Take this to a Liberty thread!

RE: Best Case
Best case scenario, within reason, for me would be to add Missouri State for all sports in 2015 and New Mexico State for all sports. That gets us to 12 in football. At that point I say the conference holds until the Idaho situation gets straightened out. If James Madison wants in as well that would be a bonus. But honestly Mo State and NMSU bring the most to the table.

I doubt if their mouths fall open with surprise..describing Liberty to a group of presidents of actual colleges that have history and acreage would be like the yugo salesman trying to get a bunch bmw dealers to add his line to their dealerships..

Virginia Tech is probably a Top 10-15 program the last 20 years, likely better in that span than Michigan. And they ended up doing well that year as well, so it wasn't like JMU caught a notable program in a down year.
BTW, I know Michigan also ended up doing well the season that ASU beat them, so I'm not trying to say it's a better win.
However, this was a signature win that few in the Sun Belt could match.

Advantage: JMU...and Liberty isn't even close.

I think the bigger thing about the unacceptable proposal is getting UMass to join all sports... No way that happens.

Now, the MSU guy did note that it was unreasonable, so it's not like he's going insane or anything thinking it would happen but....

But if we're going unreasonable, the best case scenario is to add Alabama, Florida State, & University of Texas (all of them all sports), and kick out UTA and UALR.

I didn't even sit down to do the math on it, but I figure if those three schools applied, we'd find a way to make it work.

I would expect that to be an extremely rare circumstance for most college football fans.

I know it is a wish list and you got yours, he has his, and I got mine, but some of you need to know the SBC is nowhere near asking, nor demanding either NMSU, or Idaho to leave. That is off the boards. Again a couple of you indicated UTA, and UALR need new homes. That may be the case, or not, but nobody is going to ask either to leave.

The real choices IMO are very limited. JMU vs Liberty. Mo State and approve all sports for NMSU. Somehow I am getting the feeling we are going to get Mo State, NMSU all sports, and Liberty. My only wish is nor NMSU to be included in all sports. It is just nuts to not have their best sports.

NMSU we really do not need all the angst about travel. Cross travel is very limited, and the western schools want it so get over that.

You will not get angst from me about travel in the SBC, especially after what the NCAA put our MBB Team through this year.

That would be extremely stupid if we were to go to 13. Why take more moveups than we absolutely have to.
