Thursday, October 30

Thursday, November 20
Arkansas State at Texas State – 8:30 p.m. CT (ESPNU)

What's the deal with Abilene Christian?
They just moved from D-2 to 1AA last year.
Will they be a worthy opponent for Georgia State?
Guess it's the first football game, or almost first, of the season.
Was beaten by NMSU last year. Surprised this game was included.

First FBS Game of the season. Literally the opener.

Isn't it like a day before the Chic-Filet Kick off game in Atlanta? If so, ESPN is already down there and setting up.

I didn't say that. Panama did.

5 to 7k, OK, if you say so. But answer me this when was the last time Troy took 3 to 5k fans to a SBC game? I see this all the time (not just Troy but fans in general) were fans throw out outrageous numbers like that. But from my experience you will hardly ever see 1000 visiting SBC fans at a game when it's a 5 hour drive. Not even on a Saturday...much less a weekday.

Here's another question...where were you planning on getting those 5 to 7k tickets? If a visiting team can get 7k tickets GaSo will be in deep trouble....

That would mean they could only sell 11 to 12k to their on fans.

South... Ga state

Yes we don't travel well to wku, stAte because of the distance... But with tons of Troy alumni in south Ga and Atlanta and mobile that's what it will be.

Just because we don't bring 5-7k to wku doesn't mean that's true for everyone

It's more than that. Yes, we hate each other, but we respect what the other football program brings to the table. We even secretly root for the other team when they are playing anyone else, which most rivals don't do, but we want to be the only ones to beat them. We love to hate each other.

So the answer is once and that was vs a instate school that's less than a 3 hour drive.

I'm not buying it because Troy had a heated rivalry with the muts and it's only a 4 hour drive and you could get unlimited tickets. Like I said if Troy can get 5,000 tickets for this game GaSo is in trouble.

Twice... Can you count?

We had atleast 5-7k at GSU which is a 3 hour drive...... Why wouldn't we expect to see those numbers?

And Mtsu was a little more than a 4 hour drive. It was a 4.5 hour drive from my house on the south side of Atlanta.

We had atleast 5-7k at GSU which is a 2.5 hour drive... About the same distance to statesboro... Why wouldn't we expect to see those numbers?

Because State has 10 of 1000s of tickets to sell. Southern will sell out so they won't give up 5-7 to away fans.

I also don't think ga southern would be in trouble. Their stadium might only seat 25k officially but they have the grassy area much like ULL does and they can likely put over 30k in that stadium

I don't know how many we have to guarantee to visiting teams but I would be surprised if we have more than 5k available. Upgraded stadium capacity is only 25,000 and I would project we will have close to 20k there.

How many seats does the Sun Belt require a football team to make available to visiting SB teams?

Eagles are really going all out for this. You find this when you visit their athletic page.

In all fairness chief I really don't think a lot of sunbelt fans understand exactly what they are inheriting with our two programs. ish gets crazy, especially when we play each other.

I'm beginning to sense that the two programs hate one another. Am I on track?

It's more than that. Yes, we hate each other, but we respect what the other football program brings to the table. We even secretly root for the other team when they are playing anyone else, which most rivals don't do, but we want to be the only ones to beat them. We love to hate each other.

Speak for yourself. Wouldn't hurt my feelings if you lost every game. I was doing a lot of smiling this past year about you guys :)

Lose.

I know we were sort of allies during the selection process but I'm glad we're back to hating one another. Feels more....natural.

Replays will just ensure we get proper credit for miraculous receptions.
GaSo fans are just not used to seeing people actually catch a pass.
