TOTALLY unrelated question here:

Just took a look at the Bobcats baseball schedule... How come we only play the Cajuns three times and all of it at Lafayette? Or we play ULM three times, only in San Marcos?

But we play UTA 6 times... 3 away, 3 home.

I figured they'd try to get some home some away foe each team... Is that not the case with baseball? Remember, I pay attention to football, not baseball.

Baseball usually plays one 3 game series against each conference member, all in one location. It works out so each team plays 5 conference series home, and 5 conference series road. You general don't mix up your home games because of travel rules. Teams can only play conferences games Friday through Sunday, and must be home in time for Monday classes. That means its hard to travel around the league and see every team's stadium. So we play 3 game sets at one location against everyone.

However, the SBC only has 10 teams this year, and would have had to play 27 games, and an odd number of home matchups. So a few years ago, the coaches agreed to play a 2nd series against your "geographic rival" for 6 games total. WKU plays GSU 6 times. ULL/ULM ASU/UALR UTA/Texas State and Troy/USA.

Next year, with App and GS coming in, we'll have 11 teams, meaning we will be able to play 30 games and see every team, without the need for a 2nd series against our rivals. So this is the last year of the 6 games against your rival scheduling.
