MARK WHIPPLE, new head coach at UMASS, Great coach, AAC should add UMASS
How we forget; Umass fired their coach and hired back mark whipple.
he coached at new haven in the 90's and had tremendous success, took them to the playoffs multiple times.
he then moved on to umass and also took them to the fcs playoffs many times and they won the fcs championship, this brought notice from the boston globe and they got coverage in boston from this success. we should add umass, good bball to..........

Before joining the Browns in January 2011, Whipple worked for two seasons as the offensive coordinator at the University of Miami. He previously coached in the NFL, working as a quarterback coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2004 to 2006 and as an offensive assistant coach with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2007 and 2008. On January 11, 2014, it was reported that Whipple will return to UMass as head coach.[1]

I'm really not worried about football success in this conference. We've already got Houston, Cinci, ECU, USF, UCF, and (according to recent history) Tulsa and Navy who will be challengers. Half the conference could win on any given year. UMass has some decent upside outside of football. But I would still not send an invite until they have broken ground on new athletic facilities across the board, OCS front and center. If they can do that, I say welcome aboard.

we already had a thread for this 05-nono

and remember when usf hyped the hell out of taggart?

hiring a coach that was successful in the fcs isn't reason for celebration. he has to actually prove it on the field.

their stadium situation is horrific

if in 2-4 years they can get a decent OCS, and become atleast decent in football we'd consider it

Dude, let's just add Georgetown basketball only and we could probably get the Redskins to come as a football only member....

Unless we have a solid #14 this discussion is a waste of time. Can Georgetown get a d-1 football team if needed? I'd love their hoops.

1) We have had a massive thread on this
2) Prove it on the field first
