Take a few minutes
Savor the situation.

Just a short time ago we were expanding in survival mode trying to plug holes.

Now we have more schools wanting in than spots we are willing to dole out.

We can literally add any random school of our choosing without concern over "more mouths to feed". The worst case scenario is adding someone it being revenue neutral and more likely it is revenue positive.

The only pressure we have to move is to get the boost of a new member in 2015 rather than a later date.

It's a nice place to be. No need to rush it.

It is nice to see a positive thread about the conference. I am really looking forward to this summer when APP STATE is official.

Each fan wants what is best for there school when it comes to sports.

From my view point the Sun Belt conference is the best conference that Georgia Southern has ever been associated with. Also I feel that the Sun Belt is the best from top to bottom conference outside of the P5. We just have not seen it yet in the Bowl & TV dollas yet.

Nice to see something positive. Having watched the WAC meltdown and wondering if we'd get tossed a life preserver, I'm feeling pretty good about the conference's situation. Sun Belt has turned out to be a fine conference. Just need to get the right schools on board and move forward.

No candidates guarantee a two bid conference or help football rising together is the answer.

St. Mary's improving turned the WCC into a two bid conference.
Adding BYU helped but it's still a two bid conference.

I think the SBC has great potential regardless of who is added.

There are a bunch of fans wanting their school to move? But the only University publicly stating they want to is us? Even JMU seems to be on the fence, they have the attitude, what's worse, staying FCS or getting stuck in the SB for 5 years.

Look on our board. You will see a poll that shows over 75% of JMU fans would rather be in the SBC than CAA.

Sick and tired of people saying JMU fans don't want the SBC. Cherry picking the minority doesn't make it the majority.

Please don't turn a positive thread into one about Liberty. I've heard enough about that school and every other school that wants in now.

RE: Take a few minutes
JMU would be the best overall add. Their fans seem good with a move to the SBC and even more will warm up to the idea if it were to happen. Look how the mood for App St and GSU changed last season. Now they are some of the conferences strongest supporters.

Read what I said again? I said this forum is full of fans that want their University to move, but only one has said they are ready. A majority of JMU fans, like us, would take anything FBS, but it appears some of the decision makers @ JMU are on the fence when it comes to the Belt. My point was directed to arkstfan and the thread title, I don't think there are 4 or 6 teams waiting to move up. State budgets are getting tighter every year. Some of the public schools mentioned may never decide it's in their best interest to spend more on athletics.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this thread was co-opted from it's original purpose to once again tell us that Liberty desperately wants to come the SBC. Take it to one of the other threads.

But you have to admit that the warmth for Sun Belt grew when my prior assertation that the Sun Belt was likely the sole path to FBS got reinforced by the MAC's move with UMass.

The knuckleheads are always going to be around, ESPECIALLY for FCS schools because the Sun Belt for years was the FCS golden measure (see, it's better to be here than there) and people are slow to catch on how the situation has changed the past decade. As my favorite saying goes, "It takes years to become an overnight success."

To be honest, the warmth probably comes from fatigue more than anything else.

JMU has been teasing an FBS moves since 2008. Lots of "underground" discussions have been had with donors, promises made, etc.

A ton of JMU fans have become disenfranchised by JMU's handling of this issue.
