I see what you're trying to do but I think you have it the exact opposite. No offense, however, I think UMass holds the cards; the MAC offered them the keys to the house but UMass probably has something a little nicer lined up. If not, they stay in the A-10 and figure out what to do about football. Either way, they didn't want to bring their oly' sports to the MAC, esp. basketball.

I want 12 whether we add a championship game or not. I just hate having an odd number.

....because they didn't want to be at 13, but didn't want to add a 14th unless UMass was going to come for all sports.

No reason for MAC to add anyone. They will be at 12.

RE: UMass leaving MAC.
UMass would still be in MAC for 2 more years so they wouldn't be here until 2016 anyway. JMU commits before June 1 and they are here by 2015.

I would take Liberty or JMU over a football-only invite to UMass.

Cause youre Liberty

State flagship beats problematic little private school every time you put it in the Hopper

State flagship in MA doesn't beat anything.

If the Sun Belt accepts them for football only, they are basically announcing that they are giving up on ever being anything other than a joke.

Totally agree. The combo of Idaho and Umass for FB only would be a huge logistical and financial mess. Makes zero sense whether I'm a Liberty fan or an App fan.

You are an App State fan now....who knew.
Wouldn't you like it if the SBC took UMass and the MAC took JMU and their travel partner Liberty University?

I've always liked App a lot. I am a NC boy you know. But the answer is SURE. We will take what comes.

You guys are worse than Karl.
Why would we want UMass? They ain't bringing basketball, and their football team is HORRIBLE! 2 wins in 2 years.

Got a feeling UMass tries to play it close to the vest and waits the two years while they try to get into the
AAC, possibly with UConn's help. So imagine this doesn't change any adds for the SBC right now, or no adds
if that's what they vote to do.

Except maybe they do want to go to 14, whether it's with UMass or not. But to do that, they first needed to clear up UMass' situation.

Now they can either stay at 12, or move to 14 with much more flexibility than before.

Don't forget, UMass is still in the MAC until after 2015. If Umass is the move for the Sun Belt, you're stuck with 11 football teams for another two seasons.

Sun Belt members have to build up their football wins some way.
Why not have a dependable win on the schedule. Could help a potential TV deal also.

Forget UMass. If JMU wants FBS they will take the SB invite. If not we get Liberty or possibly Missouri St. Problem solved.

UMass makes a great travel partner for App don't they? LOL

It seems like if they went to 14, both would need to be in the east. Liberty and JMU as a tandem would basically be the only option.

May not, but if they announce to the NCAA prior to July 1st they could be in the Sun Belt July 1st 2015.

Delaware and JMU. Liberty is NOT an option. Also, why would both need to be in the east? That would actually complicate the divisions. One east, one west makes more sense. JMU and Missouri State is ideal.

Yes, Presidents who will have to send women's softball teams to Mass.

Also, I would hope at least our President realizes that Southern school and New England school don't mix well.
