because the dakota schools are actually much farther from your typical wac school than your typical mac school. the mac has more population and fits the dakota schools better demographically.

And both Minnesota and Iowa would be considered a stretch from the eastern Great Lakes footprint of the MAC.

And of course, stressing how close the Dakota schools are to their eastern border contradicts the whole "it would be a move outside the Big Ten footprint, since with Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska, the Big Ten footprint really does extend into the eastern Plains.
