When holding the opposition to four runs or less, UTA is 3-5 this year.

I would put most of those losses on your offense and not your pitching.
In the SoCon (and I am sure in the Sun Belt also) Friday games where #1 pitchers throw the scores tend to be low. But on Satuday and especially on Sunday you see many more runs scored. If you can get a Saturday or Sunday game where your pitching holds the opposition to 4 runs or less you should be winning most of those games.

One of ASU's biggest saviors to this point is that we have always had a game or two each series in which we shut the oppositions offense down, and we've won almost all of those games. Throw in a few games where our offense picked up the pitching staff, and you have why we are 3 games .over 500 right now despite such a poor start to the year.
The most important thing for us is keeping our pitching together. We've got a few guys that we are overworking a bit and both need rest. We've got three Freshman in the back of our pen that we really need to pick their game up to eat some innings. I'm also very concerned about our Sunday starting situation. Our Sunday starter has the best stuff on staff, but he has been lit up all season. Its really frustrating.

In the weekend series it helps tremendously if you can get a weekend where all starters go 6 innings. It doesn't seem to happen that often. Most schools realistically have 2-3 guys in the bullpen who are top notch and who the coach is not hesitant to put in. When the starters are being forced out early it really can expose a bullpen.

SBC Has a higher quality of Saturday starter. But Sunday is very often high scoring and a contest of the bullpens.

Great to get Coach Hennon's 600th win.
Eagles are 19-6, 3-3 (SoCon). Playing UNF on Tuesday and at Davidson this weekend. I fully expect a sweep, but at a minimum to go 3-1.

The offense is very good. Lots of hitters over .300, most can hit for power. Problem is their starting pitching is very poor, and the bullpen is overworked.
This weekend. There have losses this year of 4-1, 4-3, 5-2, 5-2, 2-1, 3-2 and 3-1.
Those are seven losses this year where the pitching did decent to great and the offense forgot what game it is.
The bullpen has been the best this year, but even they have cost us some games. This is just not a good team and plays too inconsistent. Terribly disappointing after the hype and expectations they built for themselves, especially after opening a new indoor practice facility and announcing plans to add more player amenities to Clay Gould.
seems like we have only played well against ranked teams and then snoozed against the others

Have a feeling today's game is going to really sum up our season. Last year this was right around the time we tanked. We need a 4-0 week after getting off to a bad start in conference play.
