NCAA Div 1 Baseball Attendance
Attached is what appears to be the attendance figures for NCAA Div 1 baseball after the first weekend of the season (2/17/14) compiled by someone at Wichita State, not the official NCAA version. On this one, the Cajuns rank #10 in total and per game attendance. They actually played a double header on Saturday with the series being four games so I think they missed a game. From the box scores, the total attendance would have been 14183 with a per game average of 3546.

As of 2/17, New Orleans had played one home game with an attendance of 7071. So take that list with a grain of salt.

So they were listed as the home team as Zephyr park against LSU? I understand your "grain of salt" comment, but the Cajuns had those butts in the seats. I was there. I also went to plenty of baseball games at Maestri field with a number of games having more Cajun fans that UNO fans.

nevermind. Didn't see that it was a report that only went through the 17th.

We should be on the next one.

To avoid starting a thread for a yes or no answer.....
I don't keep up with baseball at all and I just found out my neighbor is on the Belmont coaching staff. Are they any good?

RE: NCAA Div 1 Baseball Attendance
I agree that we need to start preparing for a ballpark expansion, but right now, we aren't turning anyone away. There is plenty of standing room along the base lines. Before they add any more seats, I think they need to put in two more luxury boxes (between the current boxes and the pressbox).

I am curious where the next expansion will go. They could expand the seating down the 3rd base line down to the batting cages. They could put bleachers down the 1st base line on the other side of the caboose. Or they could put in some outfield seats.

I think our capacity is 2000. Last weekend against UC-Riverside averages around 1500. I want to see an expansion because I think it'll make the stadium look even nicer. Crowds are growing every year so I'm sure its in long term plans.

Here is a new video tour of the ballpark with Coach Harrington.

He mentions the area down the third base line between the stands and the batting cages as being reserved for an $8 million dollar baseball locker room and baseball offices facility.

RE: NCAA Div 1 Baseball Attendance
I'm not sure how my comment became a "who has more fans" debate, but ok. We weren't just "listed" as the home team vs LSU at Zephyr Field. We were the home team. The game was supposed to be on campus but the construction to Maestri Field wasn't quite finished in time. I was only saying if he missed us and our 7071 avg/game as of 2/17, it's quite possible he missed other things and that the list is not totally accurate.

Misunderstood. I assumed this was probably thought of as a neutral site game and that's why it wasn't listed.

I love Clements but I cringe at every outfield shot when watching the games. Our outfield wall(chain link fence) and batters eyes screams YMCA. Especially since one of better players already has been injured on the fence this season. I cannot understand why it is still this way. Really low monetary projects.
