I hope he's more Javon Kearse and less Mike Mamula.

Andrews is not designed for the combine, he may have been better off skipping it...His 40 time may really hurt him and now he may go undrafted because of his poor showing...He looked good in the pass catching drill so hopefully he will get drafted....Some guys are not good in testing but in a game, Andrews can get it done and should get a chance in the NFL i would hope due to his vision...But before combine he was a projected 5th rd pick now scouts are saying he may not even get drafted...Dowling will be a stud in this combine, that is his game...

There are plenty of GM's out there who put a lot more weight on game film than the combine.

Brandon Spikes took a dump on the field at his combine and still went early to the Patriots.

I would wager Andrews gets drafted and some team ends up very happy with him.

To put in perspective on Antonio Andrews though. As bad as his 40 time was, he still had about the same 40 time as Alfred Morris had at the combine. The knock on Andrews is his trouble fumbling the ball on occasion. Mix that with his combine numbers and that is what will affect his draft stock. I still think he gets drafted though. Jackson and Dowling will both be drafted as well. I honestly think Dowling may end up going the highest out of the 3. His size and speed combo is crazy. NFL teams are looking at him to play CB instead of FS in the league.

I don't think the combine can hurt people as much as it can help people. It's used to judge the tangibles and validate film. I think Andrews will be fine, his film will speak for itself regardless of whatever numbers he's put up at the combine.

I think guys like McKinnon that were for the most part completely off the radar can only help themselves. The skills portion is crucial for those guys. While McKinnon may be the better "Athlete," Andrews has much more experience at RB and is probably a much more experienced blocker and route runner.

I think a huge part of the combine that gets over looked is the personal interviews. I guy might not have all the best times but if he says the right things that can go along way with a coach whether it's being drafted or signed as a FA. A lot of coaches in the nfl want their kind of guys.

Calm down please. LOL

To be honest, it would be hard to argue otherwise. He's just a freak.

Who at the NFL combine isn't? It's the NFL Combine.

Well yea, but he's a top performer in every skill category he performed. Not everyone at the Combine does that, or there'd be no reason to track that. I won't say he's THE best athlete there, but he has done enough to argue that he's ONE of the best.

Yea true, but Andrews ran about 13 seconds slower than Morris did....Punters, DL, and OL were running faster than Andrews, haha...I know its not the only thing, but a few items I read from writers were killing Andrews about his slow 40 time...I am sure he did fine in interviews and also his verstaility, ability to block, vision and being able to catch the ball will certainly hlelp him....Did also get some pub also for being Bobby Raineys backup at WKU...RIch Eisen noted Rainey saved the Bucs bacon this season...

Strength and speed combo, I cannot remember anyone like McKinnon. Who was the last guy to run a 4.3 something and put up 32 reps? Has it ever been done?

I bet all GM's put 90% of the weight on game film. The combine IMO is for tie breaking purposes. If you have two players rated the same on film and one does well at the combine and one does not then it breaks the tie. I will say if some one kills it like the Kent State kid and McKinnon it can be way for kids from lesser known programs to improve their draft status or at least get teams to look a lot harder at them. Without the senior bowl and combine Mckinnon could have easily went undrafted.

Jerick McKinnon (32 reps - 4.41) 209lbs
Knile Davis (31 reps - 4.37) 227lbs
Shane Vereen (31 reps - 4.5) 210lbs

The biggest difference between Jerick and the others is his explosiveness. He out jumped both by several inches in broad and vert.

I wonder how Southern lost any games, considering they played with bionic men...

lol, why the sarcasm? We are talking about 1 player from our team, not all of them. It just so happens that this ONE players combination of athletic tangibles at the combine are better than just about every other running back that has gone through the combine in the last 10 years. If you want prove me otherwise be my guest.

I will be the first to admit that he's a project player because he's not good at blocking, and doesn't have experience as a running back in a conventional offense, so he's got a learning curve. I am also NOT saying that because he has performed so well at the combine that he's going to be an NFL superstar, we are simply stating how impressive his #'s are.

However if we had a team full of guys as good at their position as Jerick is, yes we would win every game. :)

He was hurt a lot last year. If I remember correctly he pulled up lame in our game. Then he came back and had a big game in the win over FLORIDA. Dude is a freak. A lot of NFL teams will be able to utilize him effectively.

1st offensive series with McKinnon playing we go straight down the field and score a TD vs. App. He pulls up lame and our offense goes in the toilet after that.

Not to mention that our defense made App's offense look like Tom Brady and the Patriots.

Do you really want to know ?
Turnovers, pour pass defense at times, and a lack of a balanced offense. Really couldn't pass well enough to get out of a deep hole consistently following Shaw, and particularly in 2012. . .kicking !

You know a high percentage of the time the first team to score loses.
Remember that this year. Whatever you do, don't let GaSo score first, pass it on.

Was he the player our three defenders had dead to rights in the field and all of them pulled up and refused to hit him?

Yep. He had already come out hurt and that was his first play trying to come back in. He pulled up lame and the defenders just walked him out of bounds. I gained a lot of respect for App on that play. (puke)

For real though. You guys have avoided our star B-Back 3 years in a row, and managed to break our best RB/QB this year... I'm starting to wonder.

However if we keep going back and forth catmom will 01-lauramac2 03-wink

FWIW - props to your boys for not hitting him. I imagine all hell would have broken loose if they did even though it would have been a legal hit.
