Nice extra payday from Athens to move it

You do realize that this probably means that your every-four-years series with them is over, right? They moved it up for the same reason Tech did - they want to be done with you now that you will be FBS.

You couldn't be more wrong about that, UGA has favored Georgia Southern moving up because it helps their bowl eligibility. Before, playing Southern did not count toward bowl eligibility, now it does.
Now I doubt you guys get a game with them anytime soon, simply because your not exactly in that well established category yet.
Georgia don't play shake-n-bakes, LOL 05-stirthepot

Um... one FCS victory can be counted towards bowl eligibility every year...

Teams like Georgia have a tremendous amount of ego. Would think potential SOS might be more of a reason than anything. Believe they will continue to play GaSo though since they are FBS. Their egos will not let it bother them that GaSo beat Florida or that their recruiting is better now. They feel they are the King of Georgia in football, and it's good to be king.

Wish it stayed in 2016. We still won't be at 85 schollies in 2015, with a slew of FCS players still on the roster. ThUGA knew what it was doing by pushing this game up a year.

Georgia (UGA) is not afraid to play Georgia Southern whether we are FCS or FBS. As GaSo gets comfortable in FBS pay with a full contingent of 85 scholarships the likely hood of Georgia playing Southern every 4 years will grow, in my opinion. Due to the strength of schedule issue for UGA, more exciting games, and “another” ready- made in state rival for UGA fans to cheer against I believe the gams will contine.

that makes zero sense. It would be one thing to move it up when we were still FCS, but what difference does it make once we are FBS?

I don't get it either. I've heard this from different people and I don't understand why they think UGA or GT don't want to play us now that we're I-A. They had much more to lose by playing us while we were 1-aa than they do now.

You have also added a bunch of scholarship players, and will be recruiting at a higher level, which increases your chances. As an FBS school, you are much more of a threat than you were as an FCS school. Though the threat still isn't significant, long-term (which is the view good programs take) they have no reason to give you in-state publicity.

But I am still positive that the guys at UGA weren't thinking, "oh man, those Ga Southern guys are gonna be FBS in 2014, we should move them from 2016 to 2015 since they will be FBS in 2014."

That just makes no sense. I am pretty sure that they would not have feared us any more from 2015 to 2016

So what? Playing thUGA has no special place in my heart. No different than playing AL, AU, Miami, UT, FSU, AU, UF, Clemson etc the money is all green and within driving distance. One reason it was moved up is now they can play an FCS team and us that year as you cant have two FCS wins count toward bowl eligibility. Now we have time to schedule another BCS money game for 2016 and they can fill in the 2016 void with a much easier FCS team probably for a lot less than what they were going to pay us. Win Win for both schools.

One FCS game does count, a second would not.
