OT: When you live in Troy, this is news!
Troy residents are fed up with empty WalMart shelves so they called their local news station. Hahaha. This is hilarious. For those that watched the newscast let us know how it turned out!! Lol

Quote:And to make matters worse, many have no choice but to shop there since it's one of the only grocery stores in town.

I won't knock them for trying to make this a story, I will however knock them for that stupid statement.

They have no choice because it is one of the only (NOT the only, but one of) grocery stores in town. Sheesh.

RE: OT: When you live in Troy, this is news!
If it's a recent problem, likely has to do with weather at the distribution center or suppliers being able to ship to the center.

Now a bit back Wal-Mart was having issues because the political activist management team made the decision to protest ACA by cutting the hours of many full-time people and non-renewing the temporary people, many of whom have worked there for years but have to reapply every 90 days to demonstrate that ACA was costing the little guys working for them.

They ended up so short-staffed that they couldn't keep the shelves stocked and people grew so frustrated waiting at the few checkout lines open that it was becoming common for people to just abandon full carts and walk out of the store. The lack of stock on shelves and customer frustration put a solid dent in already weak same store sales which made Wall Street made and then they took another round of PR hits for laying people off and cutting hours. So Wal-Mart made a big show of converting a large number of the so-called temp workers to full-time employees making them eligible for benefits and the stock purchase program and now they have more employees eligible for benefits than ever before as a result of their attempt to show that ACA would cause them to reduce staff.

Hardly ever go in there. But people do talk bad about the one in Troy. And the few times I have been in there it's nasty as hell.

That looks like the worst example of a store as I have ever seen,
except in the old Soviet Union. Geez. No excuse for it regardless.
Fire their management.

In a related note, I am interested in knowing what sort of college gear can be found on the shelves of that Wal-Mart. That's always interesting to see, especially in Alabama.

They have a healthy selection of Troy gear in the Troy Walmart. They use to have just a Troy section. Lots of shirts and hats.
