RE: Louisville slugger national player of the week
This is also the 4th straight year a Troy player has earned this honor
Trojans named Louisville Slugger Players of the Week: Logan Pierce 2011, Tyler Vaughn 2012, Danny Collins 2013, Jo-El Bennett 2014.

Probably because Hall got a hit or a score on all 13 times at bat but once this weekend.
Also of note... Bennett was 10 feet short of a 4th HR in that game in the deepest part of the field....

This is true... Maybe the SBC was trying to spread the love? Hall had a pretty amazing weekend too.
Hall is a junior I think. He was injured all last year...

Awards are chosen independently obviously. SBC office made their decision around the same time Louisville Slugger did. Coaches recommend these guys to the league office, so my guess is that they just made a blind choice between the two.

League office has nothing to do with it. SIDs and coaches submit one nomination for their team and then the same group votes on it.

So in other words...Troy didn't recommend the guy Louisville Slugger chose as player of the week?
That's kind of funny.

Looking at the stats I see why ... Bennett only played in one game and Hall did it over four games and had pretty ridiculous numbers.
