This whole thread is based on USM Basketball greatness. 01-wingedeagle

Can I get a show of hands of people that didn't expect the Golden Beagles basketball team to collapse like a cheap rusty lawn chair ?

Top 3 wins by Southern Miss so far this season:

La Tech (51)
Georgia State (80)
North Dakota State (85)

Numbers are Pomeroy ratings.

Carly Simon said that narcissism runs deep in some folks.

To clarify my earlier post for the learning impaired:
"I would rather have UAB's football history than USM's basketball history"

RE: And there goes the impressiveness of our USM win
USM's chance of an at-large was slim to none. They have 1 top 50 win over a team who is likely to not even finish in the Top 50. You don't make at as an at-large with 1 (or 0) wins vs the RPI Top 50.

I don't think MTSU winning like this does anything to take away from the impressiveness of our win. We beat USM by a greater margin and have been struggling. MTSU is playing some of the best ball in CUSA right now.

If we win tonight, and Charlotte (plays Marshall) and after FIU (hosts UTEP) lose, we jump all the way from 10 to 6

I would have no problem with the parity in this league if it weren't for teams like FIU, FAU, Rice, UTSA, UNT, etc. being so terrible in the OOC schedule.

I think we will ultimately be fine as a league. Folks just need to get better OOC schedules and win more of those big games.

We just have to man up and stop losing to these crappy teams. It's as simple as that. No reason on this earth this team should've lost to temple, unt, ecu, fiu, and fau. I could understand losing to one or maybe two of those teams, but that's way too many craptastic losses for a team that has shown they have what it takes to compete with truly good teams.

I don't know if its internal or external, but this group just doesn't seem to have the motivation to play against bad teams. That's probably the biggest thing we have to correct for the remainder of this season and for next season. Even though we can't shoot worth a damn and turn the ball over a lot, we still should've beaten at least 3 or 4 of those aforementioned teams. Shooting and turnovers be damned, this team was good enough go beat those squads if we just played with some fire and motivation.

I agree. That's why I am more concerned about tonight's game than I was about the game against USM

For once, we agree good sir.

In a way, I'm glad chad Frazier said that he plays down to the competition. It shows that he and the coaches have some insight into their problems. However, that was a long time ago and we still don't know if we've corrected it or not. If this team played up every night, there's no reason we couldn't win the whole shebang and end up in the NCAAs (not counting on it, because there are other good teams in our conference, but just acknowledging it could happen).

UAB is supposed to be one of the top teams in CUSA and isn't helping any by losing games they should be winning as Tulane isn't a very good team
