This.
Deal, Isakson, and Chambliss sometimes give the impression that they all died years ago and have simply been embalmed for public appearances.

Do you ever see "a family of 4" at an NFL game? Maybe if they're season-ticket holders (in which case $300+ is no biggie) or if their boss/client/rich friend invited them to sit in the luxury box as a special treat (in which case, the family's paying a lot less than $300).
But it's not like middle class families are considering an NFL game as one of their weekend entertainment options. The NFL passed that exit at least 20 years ago.

The idea of PSLs didn't come about until the mid 80's. The Carolina Panthers were the first NFL team to use PSLs to build a stadium. As one of their PSL owners I am glad we used this revolutionary (at the time) idea. Without them, we would not have a team or a stadium. BTW, no public funds were use for the stadium proper when it was built.
You're correct. I really didn't understand the furious uproar about tax money going to the upgrades. The Panthers being in Charlotte has pumped 20X that amount into the economy.

I'm a Chiefs season ticket holder, season tickets went up this year for the first time in four years. I spend around $150 a game with parking. Two tickets - $60, $30 parking. I agree with you on the family thing, but if you are going once a year, its a splurge type thing.

I see it quite a bit in Kansas City actually.

I suspect those are families that have annual net income well into the six figures, or are else guests of people that do. But either way, the Chiefs are blessed if their games still manage to attract that kind of demographic. Good for them.

Huge stadium, large market geographical area, reasonable ticket prices in certain areas - you can still get tickets for $25/30 at Arrowhead - all are factors. I would say most aren't six figure incomes - its still a very blue collar venue.

I was speaking about the Panthers specifically as the person I was addressing is a PSL/season ticket holder like me. There are tons of families at Panthers games by the way, the organization and the atmosphere they try to provide is family friendly.

I think we're talking about slightly different issues.
I've never said that the "atmosphere" at NFL games is not "family friendly". And I've never said that "families" aren't in attendance at NFL game, if by "family" we mean two or more people who are related to each other.
What I've said (or tried to say, apologies if unclear) is that a proverbial "family of four" (mom, dad, kids) on a median-ish income cannot afford the GameDay experience, and that most of the families who are in attendance are either upper-income season ticket-holders, or the guest of upper-income season ticket-holders. I'll add a third category and say that some non-upper-income families may be in the very worst seats, or else they might be splurging on a once-a-year occasion or something like that. But just in general, personal attendance at an NFL game is simply not a financially-viable weekend entertainment option for anyone without a lot of disposable income. I don't think even the NFL itself would deny that.

I think mine went up the same amount as well. Not counting a 72 mile one way drive to my tailgate spot, 2 tickets & parking costs me around $215 per game. Then add beer, food to grill, etc. and the per game cost climbs a bit... A lot of people play golf- I don't. They way I look at it Panthers games are my "golf."
