Great news for Ga. Southern, App and Ga. State. Don't know about App and Ga. State but we were going to have to play as an independent since the SoCon would not keep us, so this is good news.

It took some effort as you have to have 6 schools so we added Hartwick, Howard and New Jersey Institute of Technology to get 6. There will be 1-2 long road trips each year but it beats having no conference to play in.

SoCon wasn't going to keep your soccer team, but they were going to keep ours? They give a reason?

Only thing I could figure was we were on the extreme south end of the conference. Other than that I don't know-- maybe we just pissed off the SoCon leadership to the point they didn't want us. Don't really know but we were set to play as an independent and go all over the place just to get matches next year so this is good news for us.

So, which of the other slacker SBC schools are going to step-up and add Men's Soccer?

WTF!

Give it a few years and you might see it added at other 'Belt schools.

well, that certainly helps your case of attracting JMU because one of the issues we have with the SB is that it doesn't sponsor many sports we play...men's soccer being one.

Nice to hear from Missouri State since that is a sport we sponsor. I wonder why Belmont didn't join for soccer only?

Women's soccer is already a Sun Belt sport.

Despite our location, I doubt we do. Unless we add another women's sport we would have to cut a men's sport to make it happen.

Comparing our sports offering to the Georgia Schools-
We offer Men's Cross Country and Men's Track/Field.
The GSUs do not. I don't see us dropping those for soccer.

We had them, but dropped them like a hot potato in our FBS transition.

I'd like to have them back, but between those and Men's soccer, it's really no contest - I'd take soccer every time.

This is awesome. Essentially Georgia Southern vs. Georgia State vs. Appalachian State for the auto-bid. No offense to Hartwick, NJIT, or Howard.

Unless a South Alabama type added it, I don't see many current league members adding the sport, but as has been mentioned, both of our primary expansion targets sponsor the sport, so it makes sense to go ahead and add the sport with the hope that eventually a current member school or two will add it.

Howard, Hartwick, and NJIT all located in the mid-Atlantic. Driving distance from James Madison. Hmm...
