I was going to be kind of sad that they cancelled the series.

I just hope that we ended the basketball part of the relationship with Troy.

I'm glad. I think it just makes sense.

It makes dollars and cents for UAB, cash stressed and needing close games. IMO it is a good time to attempt to include other sports with them as part of the financial benefit to UAB football.

Smart for all four teams involved. I've got to give credit to the UAB AD, scheduling in state or close by OOC games will boost interest on both sides of the fan bases.

I wish Texas St would set up games with Rice, UTSA, UTEP, UNT, or SMU. Glad we have Tulsa and Houston H/H set up though.

The obvious thing to do would be for UAB to join the Sun Belt, I know they would never lower themselves to our level, but they are on the Sun Belts level.

Wrong. Also we cannot afford the financial hit to join the Belt. UAB will stay in C-USA. ULL administration is begging to join C-USA any way.
The series benefits Troy just as much. Don't let them fool you. Just ask their AD. I really don't want to include other sports with footballs series. We will be happy to pay a competitive game guarantee for basketball. Not trying to be disrespectful but just adding a dose of reality.

Stop exaggerating. You just say stuff then believe your own crap. UAB's worst RPI over the last 5 years was 169. Their average is 114. That's nowhere close to 300's. Troy's average RPI was 76 with only one year in that time with an RPI in the 20's. Without checking doesn't UAB hold the series record over Troy in baseball? If UAB is so bad then why can't you beat them? If I was you I would just stop. Troy is a decent team in baseball, yes. But you act like Troy Baseball is God's gift to this conference and it is getting old.

Cause y'all like to bring up dumb crab about not playing Troy in basketball anymore so why not?

I would be all for never playing Troy in any sport again. That said I can live with football as it appears to benefit both programs and for the short term makes sense. If you don't want to play again in baseball I am all for that. There are better programs out there to schedule for both of us. Neither team brings many fans in baseball to either home park. There is no financial benefit for either program. It's a non-conference game and let's leave it at that. Enjoy!

Rumor is that we were reluctant to re-sign the football deal because it was tied in with basketball. There is no mention of basketball in the AL.com article.
