RE: New assistant coaches
I have heard that the whole Jax State faculty pay scale is less than UAB, but that is old data. It may be that Clark made the offer as a courtesy, knowing that some might refuse. Now if he wishes, he can add those who were left at UAB and have been recruiting for us to fill out the staff IF they WANT to stay. Clark has had time to think the situation over and to decide who he wishes to approach later this week.

Mike Bennefield's (the O-line coach) son congratulated him on twitter for becoming a FBS coach, so I guess he's being brought over for sure.

New assistant coaches
Any JSU assistant would be crazy to stay as an assistant at JSU if they have aspirations of coaching at the FBS level. FBS assistant coaches get offers to be HC all the time. FCS assistants not so much.

Some of them have ties to Grass and JSU. Loyalty might keep them there.

Duwan Walker, Jody Wright, and Mike Bennefield are the ones we know are coming so far.

Another assistant? Rush Probst.

Rush ends up at UAB afterall as OC. 03-lol

Bill Clark and Rush Probst would recruit like crazy. They are both winning coaches. However, that maybe too much ego on the sidelines.

The difference between Clark and Propst is that Clark is liked and respected among high school coaches in Alabama.

Maybe the Prattville / Hoover battles ruffled some feathers between the 2 of them.

Which may be why Clark would not ever consider that option.

And the TE coach

Wright coached:
UAT from 2010-2012: WR and RB coach.
Mississippi State 2005-2009: director of football operations under Dan Mullen & on-field offensive line assistant & in charge of the scout team under Sly Croom. In 2005, helped coach DBs.
JSU 2002-2004: student assistant coach, assisted with OLB, RB and WR.
In all fairness, CJW was not the WR or RB coach while at UA. He was in some time of administrative position and he assisted with WR and RB.

RE: New assistant coaches
Is anyone worried that our assistants all seem to be coming from the FBS or high school coaching ranks?

Makes me a little nervous, especially considering our new HC only has FCS head coaching experience.

Considering the experience level of our last staff, not even a little bit.
