They used to have warning on their website to let everyone know they were not the Broncos but the Broncs. So it is a big deal to them. Hmmmm who does that sound like?

Schools are scheduling home games just to have them against Non D1 competition because they can't get games. I've always been a fan of intersectional, evenly matched conference vs. conference games. The Big Ten/ACC Challenge is probably the most basketball I'll watch until February. The games are usually intense, and have an almost tournament feel to them. Fans are excited (unless your team stinks), and it's made for TV fun. I've never understood why conferences don't line up with each other, look at the league RPI's, and work together. That way schools aren't saddled with playing Tusculum, West Virginia Tech, Lenoir-Rhyne, Carson Newman, North Alabama and Bellarmine (who may be moving to Division I to help save the A-Sun).
I've also been a firm believe that states should do their own tournament if they have enough Division I programs. Texas for instance should have a November deal where all you guys play a round robin style tournament at campus sites, then after the dust settles the teams who won the most advance in a winners bracket tournament played in Dallas or wherever. Everyone gets home games, fans get excited and come out to watch. But of course pride, greed and the mentality that "we're too good for this" always prevails which leaves fans paying full price for tickets to see their beloved team beat the wheels off Dalton State.

RE: OT: An NCAA rule I didnt know
If this is really a NCAA rule (which I suppose it is) then I withdraw my support for a 20 game conference schedule next year. The only reason I supported a conference schedule with that many games was to avoid too many non-Division I games...since this rule is in place...there's no reason for a 20 game conference schedule....go out and schedule some real OoC games.
