I just hope that they don't rush into hiring a coach just to hire one NOW.

Potential Candidates
I certainly wouldn't be upset with Thompson or Nix.

Thompson was a horrible head coach.

I'd rather have Tommy West back, who does have some success as a head coach.

RE: Potential Candidates
I have heard a few names thrown around. A couple I really like are in no particular order: will friend, Tony Haynes, or Tyson summers.

I totally agree we don't need to rush anything. I say we give Bryan Ellis the job offer him $80k with no buyout then if that doesn't pan out we can start looking for a coach mid-season and not have to pick from the left overs. I know he would jump at the opportunity. I'd bet my left nut he'd win more games than McGee did this year and people would like him more too.

Thompson has indicated to several in Jonesboro he intends to step out of coaching for a year so his son can graduate here. At last check we were working to get him a job inside the athletic department to make up for the bad luck he fell into.

That being said, a head coach situation is certainly different than a DC.

You think the job is a complete lost cause anyway, so why would you care who the coach is?

Why? He's litterally been around since XHFBCNC's first class, in fact McGee offered him the QB job for the upcoming season before he decided to tuck his tail between his legs and run back to Bobby, he knows the program in and out, he knows the current team, everyone likes him. If you put an underdog in extraordinary circumstances sometimes they surprise you (i.e. David vs. Goliath). If he doesn't produce back to the drawing board this off season. We would be no worse off then being stuck with McGee's scared ass until his contract is up.

RE: Potential Candidates
why do we not hear Tony Franklin's name. He was a great OC until Tuberville screwed him over royally.

I like the Bryan Ellis idea. If there's one thing Bryan Ellis knows, it's football. Give the kid a chance. What could it possibly hurt?

Because I am a fan who doesn't abandon my team, even if I think it is a lost cause.

RE: Potential Candidates
Bryan is a good guy & with a few years under his belt as an assistant coach somewhere, he may start getting on people's radar.
