Atlantic Sun Tournament
So here's the official page on the A-Sun tournament:
http://www.atlanticsun.org/mbasketball/c...eneralInfo

It's a broad summary that leaves some questions to be asked.

It SOUNDS like the highest seed hosts each round. That would mean up to 3 different host sites.

March 4 -- First Round
March 6 -- Second Round
March 9 -- Finals

This really adds a ton of weight to the regular season. Not only do you get the championship title and a guaranteed NIT berth, but also home court advantage throughout.

After Mercer dominated JU like I've never seen before, I'm fired up for MU to chase this #1 seed!

Mercerfan,

To clarify the tournament format. The #1, #2, #3, & #4 teams will host First Round games. The two highest remaining seeds will host the semifinals and highest remaining hosts the finals. So all the first round games and semifinals will be at different sites.

Thanks for the heads up. The A-Sun site wasn't detailed. Gotta get that #1 seed and not worry about travel!

edit -- That's a lot of last minute travel for the CSS and ESPN crews to televise.

They've done it before. Big South had that format for awhile. might still, haven't checked on it in awhile. regardless they hire out company's to freelance broadcast the games for the tourney's. Cross Creek productions does a lot in the south east and did the A Sun final game last year. Great guys, I know a few who still work with them. Their truck is awesome if you ever get the chance to go check out how a game is broadcast its actually pretty cool.

RE: Atlantic Sun Tournament
The NKU announcer just had a different perspective on the tournament:

He claims the top 4 seeds host their own quarterfinal.

Then the highest remaining seed hosts BOTH semi's and the finals.

My guess is the A-Sun site was so vague because they didn't want to commit to one way or the other.

He is wrong. Top 4 seeds will each have a home game. The Top 2 seeds will EACH have a semifinal and the finals at the top seed. It is just someone not knowing what they are talking about.

RE: Atlantic Sun Tournament
That would make more sense to me, and I would prefer the separate semi final locations. I wasn't putting too much stock into what he's saying, but the A-Sun could at least come out with a clearer web page on the tournament. I also found it strange that NKU had a segment dedicated to the tournament when they are ineligible. They had on-screen graphics and everything, it wasn't just something the announcer randomly thought to say.

Very odd, but every round is seperate. You won't have more than one game per site in any round. Anyways, it is what it is but people need to KNOW what they are talking about before opening their mouth in such a public forum.
