@harponsports: Let's see if this tweet gets ganked as well. My sources tell me Vandy's Brent Pry is #1 choice to replace Jeff Monken in Statesboro.

My sources tell me the same thing and I HOPE it's true.

I would be ecstatic with Brent Pry.

Hire Pry. Get an option OC or keep Davis and we are good to go.

Y'all have to deal with Seth Harp? He spent some time in Mobile and he was an absolute douchebag.

I would say yes to both but over time I can see us transitioning to an Auburn style offense under Pry. We simply don't have the players to change from the option next year so any change would be two or three years off imho.

Actually, now is the time if your new coach desires to wholesale change the offense.

As a transitioning team, you're not expected to do well, so changing the offense will not diminish expectations.

However, trying to slowly transition from TO to a different offense will just drag out the "growing pains" and cause headaches.

One thing I have noticed with coaching searches unless the coach is on staff the first coach the fan base falls for is not the guy that gets hired.

Do not want Pry. No clue why his name is even being thrown around. Ivin Jasper should be the hire.

Thinking not to far outside the box, how bout Derek. .

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derek_Doole..._football)

Not an option coach, but is that a necessary requirement, if his job is to manage his assistants, promote and guide the program. You know he'd honor Coach Russel's legacy as well as embrace and uphold our traditions. I'd give him a look. A Georgia boy for sure, he'd even have an indirect connection with a certain Bald Eagle we're familiar/w, and he might have a story or two we haven't heard yet.

If he keeps the offensive staff, what's the difference? We have a higher chance of keeping the option moving forward by hiring someone like Pry. In a few years there's a good possibility Jasper is gone, then who do you get? The PJ coaching tree starts getting narrower after that. Start running out of guys that would be interested with the experience we like to see.

Dooley would make a fine choice, he doesn't inherit the mess he did in Knoxville either.

Derek Dooley is as bad of a coach as Chris Hatcher. If we hire that rube, Allah help us.

GaSo doesn't want Derek Dooley.

Derek Dooley doesn't want GaSo.

The non-interest is mutual and there is no reason for anyone to speculate about that, except to just stir the pot.

RE: Georgia Southern Coaching Search
No stirring the pot here, just curious about what y'all thought, you know there is the possibility that TK pulls someone highly qualified out of left field we're not expecting.
Everyone second guessing the decision, etc.
What if Brent Pry is not the man and what if Ivin Jasper isn't either. What if the next coach runs a pro-style offense. We don't pass the ball well, and although he did give a hint about our traditions, and the option, he also said he wanted to improve areas of weakness, in other words passing.
I really don't think you judge Derek Dooley solely based on his time at Tennessee (15-21), look what kind of mess he inherited. Of course in three seasons at Louisiana Tech he was 17-20.
Maybe he wants a HC with experience instead of promoting a coordinator or position coach if one is available. If you gave me a choice between D.Dooley and Jim Grobe, I'll take Dooley. Bad record and all.
