I think if they wanted to JMU could walk into the MAC or SBC no questions asked today. I think the neither situation is ideal for them at this time. Ideal would be an FBS conference with a bunch of Mid Atlantic schools.

What am I missing here? Isn't top 5 a subset of top 15? I am failing to see your point and you're either failing to see or chosing to ignore mine.

JMU continues to say they currently have no invites anywhere. I'm not sure if that is the dog and pony show the admin is using or if it's just how these things work....invites aren't made until the conference is absolutely sure the school will accept I think.

FCS money, then top 15, then top 5, the point is you tend to change your story once you look at facts. Pretty simple

Come on now, you are arguing with Panama, he'd never let something like facts get in the way of a good argument. 04-cheers

Explain to me how any of those three things are mutually exclusive? LOL.

My original point still stands.

Apparently his salary is $325k a year which is very FCS
http://www.timesdispatch.com/sports/coll...l?mode=jqm

So why are we speculating on a move?

It is a very FCS salary. It may be in the top 15 FCS salaries. It MAY be even in the top 5. But its still an FCS salary and and in the FBS would be at the very bottom. Period

I try and stick to facts and figures even when it makes my program look like crap. You dont like me? I can live with that. But dont overstate the issue.

I am sure they have talked to several conferences. That's just the way things work. You put out feelers and ask the "what would it take" question. Our admin was in communication with as many 3 conferences as long as 3 years ago. So I am sure JMU's administration knows where they stand with CUSA, the SBC and the MAC and even the AAC. But I would reiterate that JMU is under no pressure to move up. They are doing just fine where they are. They can wait this all out and see what happens in 2 to 5 years when some schools tire of flying their Olympic sports cross country.

I never said I didn't like you, you have actually grown on me quite a bit over the last year. I have even stopped bashing GaSt football, for the time being anyway.

So you're telling me a transitional team's coach would be at the bottom of the FBS salary range? News flash alert.

If the MAC wanted JMU, I think they would have taken you guys already.

There are probably more variables involved with the MAC such as UMass.

Maybe...but JMU administration wanted no part of FBS up until maybe December of 2011. We recently had a president change and the previous ruler was dead set against FBS. However, the landscape has drastically changed since 2008 and JMU can't afford to not move up at this point. Everything here seems to move at a snail's pace as well. I'm a fan of joining the Sun Belt and as soon as possible at that...the administration? Who really knows with them.

The MAC has been talking to "some schools in VA" since 2011. ODU came out an said it wasn't them, and we know the MAC won't take Liberty, so...

No idea where JMU ends up. Withers hasn't signed an official contract (just a binding deal), so we can't FOIA the contract. I think that is by design. Clearly he will have an escalation clause, but JMU won't show its cards by making the contract official until an FBS decision is made.
