Georgia State did get better as the year progressed. Unfortunately for them, USA did too, and spectacularly so in their last three games, blowing out ULM, GSt, and ULL. Georgia State will win 1-4 FBS games next year. Its a start.

If things go well for GaSt, I can see their team being similar to the 2012 Jags - a couple of wins and competitive in most games. Solid progress towards building a foundation of winning.
It will be interesting because there were more than 1 -3 games that could have gone either way. QB play cost us at least 6 games; at LEAST. So lets see if this QB is the real deal. We definitely bought in the OL beef. I just want a RB and I think we are good.

For your sake, I hope you're not thinking that GaSt is suddenly going to be a bowl team next year. In 2012 USA was very close to winning several more as well and in 2013 they still found themselves on the short end of a few extremely close scores. It takes time to build a mentality to get over that. I think USA had that edge down the stretch at the end and put teams away quickly.
Be patient, it should happen for you eventually. And if lightning strikes next year and you have an unbelievable season, be pleasantly surprised.
I AM patient. Have been saying for 2 years that 2015 is the year.

They were worse than I ever expected after they left C-USA. I suspect they will compete immediately in their new horrible conference.

What will save Charlotte and ODU is that they are two excellently run Ath Depts.

Maybe, maybe not.

Little Bear and his crew prevented UAB from hiring Jimbo Fisher as HC a while back even though UAB had the $$$ to make it happen.

Trying to operate under UAT's thumb has been a heavy burden for UAB athletics. I'm not sure they will ever be able to get out from underneath it. I know they won't if UAT has anything to say about it. It's a rough situation for Blazer fans.

ODU had a hell of a run until last year though. Hardly living off the past.
2008-2009 25-10

2010-2011 27-7 NCAA
2011-2012 22-14
2012-2013 5-25

But the coach that brought them that run is now gone and their history isn't so outstanding as to suggest that winning again is inevitable.

Little Bear will have to retire or die. He has a vendetta against UAB because of his Dad's relationship with Bartow. Its the most amazing oversight of a BOT I have ever heard about. I dont think in Georgia we have to seek BOR approval unless we are requesting $$$ or it involves state owned property. UAB can go to the restroom without BOT approval.

I don't know, Grasshopper. I thought I detected a note of impatience there when you insinuated that the right QB would have won you at least six games.
You guys will be fine. Although I do wonder why you pound on Levick so much when she seems to have been responsible for a couple of good hires in the two major sports. She may let you down in other areas, but she seems to be doing pretty well in the most critical area of her job.

How many times must UAT have regretted allowing UAB to create a MBB program? You know they never, ever would have even considered it if they had known how Bartow would develop it so successfully.

She hires consultants for those decisions. The most critical area of her job is running a competent Athletic Department, and in that she has failed miserably.

Absolutely. One thing is the expectation that 2015 will be the year we make a run on the conference or that we would only win 0-3 games in 2013. Its quite another thing to actually be close in games in 2013 and witness horrible QB play that made the difference in several games. So you can see that actuality and say in retrospect, yeah we ended up right where I expected (forecast) however with a couple of changes we could have done better than forecast.

The same coach that left us in the position we're in. ODU BB will be back, it's just going to take some time.

I don't the actual mechanism used for hiring those coaches, but usually consultants find and vet candidates and the AD must actually make the decision from their list of recommendations. She's done well in her decisions.

LOL! Um...yeah she has been directed to the correct decision. *hint hint*

We have a baseball HC with .568 wining percentage, only one losing season, victories over GT and UGA while playing on a high school quality ball field and who yet doesn't have an offered contract extension. The HC search was taking over by the President as was the FBS move. That vacant expression on her face is not appearances. Nobody is home.

Easy to make a decision from a list of one. Even so, it doesn't make up for the rest of her performance - if anything it highlights it.
