Pretty mediocre record at Drake.

I thought they would get it wrong.

RE: Chris Creighton is the man...
Dear Friends,
His resume looks good, he has been a head coach, he has won where ever he has coached, looks to involve the community into his programs, and as far as we know, no baggage.
As far as Babers goes, maybe he is looking for a bigger option than Eastern. There are other job openings out there.

If you look at his conference records he had some really good records.(7-1) He has won at every stop he has been. That has to count for something.

I agree, Weagle. Glancing over some stats, he seems like an offensive mind (former QB and OC). He's had some successful defenses as well: 6th overall in FCS in 2010.

He's a few good seasons mixed with a few mediocre seasons at Drake. His team was 6-5 last season. Eh.

This is a joke. Drake plays in the PFL, the only football-only FCS conference that is a non-scholarship league. This is what we are getting. I am speechless.

So? if anything that means he can really coach since he has to compete against teams with scholarship athletes.

I noticed that as well. But the man has won everywhere he has been. He has a track record of success. You can’t ignore that. EMU hasn’t had a coach with his track record in a long time.

Yeah, right and he may not win in a "long time"

No, he is coaching against other non-scholarships in a league that is not taken seriously. Look at the schools. These schools don't recruit, they take in as many players as want to try out and then hope they have enough decent talent to make for a team. It's the equivalent of throwing (stuff) on the ceiling and seeing what sticks.

Brother, I told you EMU isn't serious about football. Do you believe me now?

RE: Chris Creighton is the man...
I problem isn't so much if he is qualified, is that he has such a high hurdle to get over to get folks to accept him as the man who can be the savior of EMU FB.

Everyone was jacked up for Babers, etc.

This reminds me of 2003 when we almost had Brian Kelly and then, I understand, UofM's Fred Jackson turned down the job and Jeff Genyk was Plan C.

That couldn't be any farther from the truth. These schools recruit just like any other school out there. Ask Alex Gillett. I know some PFL schools were recruiting him very hard before EMU came in late and got him. Schools in this league knock off many full scholarship FCS schools each year. Know your facts before you "throw stuff on the ceiling and see what sticks"

RE: Chris Creighton is the man...
hahhahahah he coached a team called the Wabash Little Giants!! this is hilarious. are there any solid articles/writeups about him? do we know his coaching style? what kind of offense/defense he'll run? google isn't helping me right now.

regardless, i'm excited to see how this plays out. although, it's bad news when HuronDave isn't sold....

RE: Chris Creighton is the man...
His team played in a bowl game in Africa in May, 2011 against a mexican all-star team. you can't make this stuff up. i have a feeling he will either be the best thing to happen to EMU sports in years or fall flat on his face. no room for middle ground here.
