RE: Chris Creighton is the man...
If he fails what does EMU lose? EMU is used to failure on the gridiron. But if he wins we will all sing hosannas in praise of Lyke.

RE: Chris Creighton is the man...
he is totally wild

“We want our program to positively and significantly impact our guys’ lives, otherwise my life will be empty when I’m done. If my tombstone is just my win-loss record, then my life has been a joke,” Creighton said. “We want our program to positively impact the world.”

Guarantee that this was a decision based solely on money. He was willing to do the job for what EMU was willing to pay.

He sounds like someone that actually cares about his players. I think there will be a big turn around next year.

Well, when you are a program almost entirely supported by tax dollars you have to do things on the cheap.EMU doesn’t exactly have large pocketed donors to help them out.

So? if anything that means he can really coach since he has to compete against teams with scholarship athletes.

No, he is coaching against other non-scholarships in a league that is not taken seriously. Look at the schools. These schools don't recruit, they take in as many players as want to try out and then hope they have enough decent talent to make for a team. It's the equivalent of throwing (stuff) on the ceiling and seeing what sticks.

Yep. Inept hire. If you're going to throw stuff at a wall to see what sticks, might as well have hired Wheatley.

I wouldn't be surprised if $ wasn't a big factor.

I've posted that Craig Bohl (NDSU) went to Wyoming for a contract STARTING at 750K and moving upward.

Who can a FBS team get today for 350 - 400K?

Chuck Martin, Miami hire, is at 450K.

Could EMU have gone 450 - 500K??????????????

I’d much rather have Creighton than Wheatley or Carter. We have seen what position coaches can do. It isn’t much. I’ll go with a head coach with a track record. I preferred Babers or Wistren, but for whatever reasons they went with Creighton. At this point all we can do is hope he wins.

RE: Chris Creighton is the man...
As WEagle indicates, this guy MIGHT work out.

The big problem, as I see it, is that UNTIL it happens we are in a lost period of time.

At least with Babers we would have gotten, probably, unrealistic HOPE, and we would have lived on that hope.

I noticed that as well. But the man has won everywhere he has been. He has a track record of success. You can’t ignore that. EMU hasn’t had a coach with his track record in a long time.

Yeah, right and he may not win in a "long time"

Brother, I told you EMU isn't serious about football. Do you believe me now?

Yes and it's a $@&# shame..

Heather Lyke you better get this one right..

RE: Chris Creighton is the man...
Well, I do find it laughable that when every other team in the MAC has hired a new head coach they have opted to go with the coach who has Division I-A experience or head coaching experience from a school with a proven record of winning but EMU didn't. Sorry, but that is what separates the winners from the losers. I doubt that we will see BG or BSU, if they have to replace their head caoch, making the same kind of choice we did.

Creighton has a proven record of winning. He has won at all stops he has coached at.
