Just a note - this game is a justification for the Sagarin ratings. Everyone predicted Northern Illinois would win, but the core Sagarin 'Predictor' rating had Bowling Green rated at 77.2 and NIU as 74.42.

Yea the BG coaching staff did their homework and prepared well. I think the NIU coaching staff was starting to look at B12 film last week.

Anybody who is seriously blaming BG for the conference losing money needs their head examined and their butt whipped behind the woodshed.

Your blame should go the the BCS. A system put in place for this specific reason, to keep the money at the top and to keep our conference and others like it as mere fodder used to just line their coffers.

This was more of a shot at the system than BG or anything else. Coach wins a big game and then walks. It happened to us with Doeren last year. I hate the stepping stone perception of the MAC. It looks like Clawson is interviewing with Wake.

Flashfan: I'm not mad at BG....of course they are supposed to play to win......just bummed that it worked out so badly for the conference. The "little guy" conferences don't get many of these chances (BCS plus Heisman finalist) obviously.

Probably better than at Rice and SMU on campus today I'm guessing. I know there were power outages in Dallas, though. Maybe C-USA should play at a neutral site.....I am sure Herd fans would be up for that so long as it's in Huntington every year. :)

The problem is that the C-USA is so geographically fragmented that there is no neutral site that would work for them. When your conference stretches from El Paso to Norfolk it's pretty much impossible for the CC to be close to most or even some of the schools. Imagine how little people they'd draw if they had UTEP-FAU in Nashville, Tulsa-ODU in New Orleans, or Rice-FAU in Atlanta. The main benefits of having a neutral site game are to prevent severe weather from being a factor or to be located in an easily accessible location to most schools in the conference. The C-USA doesn't usually have a weather problem, and they can't play the game somewhere that's consistently close to both division champs.

MACC at neutral site drew 21,106. C-USA championship at on campus site (Rice) posted an "official" tally of 20,247 but that must've been tickets sold since there were far less fans there than that.
