USA protects its position. The state has, for years, tried to raid USA's endowment. About half of the endowment comes from mineral royalties from land given to USA when it was founded. Nat Gas (and lots of it) was found on said lands. The state has tried to take those revenues away. They didn't get away with it.

Exactly. USA has had to manage on it own.

Why are your facilities such junk? You should have a Jag retractable roof stadium.

Ladd Stadium is owned by the city of Mobile, not USA. It isn't even run by USA. USA plays there until we eventually build an on-campus stadium.

What other facilities do you think is junk? Other other facilities are quite nice.

That's the only place I've been. You guys have the money to make the best dang football stadium in the gulf south. Is that in at least the planing stages? BTW whoever suggested the Cajundome is junk has never been in it. It is one of the nicest basketball arenas around.

And a great Slip and Slide.

That must be it. Even with the affordable property values in Troy, I couldn't imagine the whole university being only worth $386,000.

USA easily has the highest endowment in the Sun Belt. Our endowment, including restricted scholarship funds is over half a BILLION dollars. The school hoards cash. Its finally starting to spend some on facilities.

As far as an OCS goes, the school could write a check, today, to build an OCS. They'll do so, but will wait until 2015 or 2016. Moulton was very tight with the money. But he was a very good President. The new President might decide to do some empire building.

The issue is free versus 60 million dollars. Ladd sucks, but the price is right.

yes- uta just built a 78 mil arena and 80 mil residence and retail bldg. they have built nearly 300 mil of projects just the last few years..the campus is 391 acres and there are 22 gas wells onsite..am thinking that would all add up to a billion or so.

I'm not sure anyone has ever calculated the value of UL's assets. [I'm sure they have, I just don't know where to look.] I do know that the University has over a quarter of a billion dollars in capital outlay projects that have either finished in the last 3 years, or are currently under construction; and that amount does not include the 120 million worth of capital projects in the Athletic Master Plan.

The endowment is around 140 million last time I checked, and has been growing very rapidly of late.
