Be careful if you pass through Dry Prong. It's a speed trap.

The name alone sounds painful. I know it was for me.

LOL, my anthropology professor got pulled over in Dry Prong...the cop reminded her that he could arrest her if he wanted...sounds like a right nice place.

It is and what is sad is it the largest source of income for most of those towns. Most are villages thAt have no business even having a police department.

Warsaw...I wish that they didn't...kind of funny as a staff back in the late 80's with the Cajuns we actually had a Louisiana Map posted with towns circled that you did not dare speed thru....recruiting can get damn expensive up there....

Arkansas has had its share. Legislature passed a statute limiting the per cent of income a town or city can derive from traffic court.

RE: To those Cajun fans driving north for the Lolly Polly game
I got caught once in a famous Arkansas Speed trap. Town has a posted population of about 150 people.

Cop got me on my way to work for going 60 in a 55. (First time I've ever been ticketed for anything under 10 over.) After a two minute lecture about being more careful (as three other cars sped right by us) I was offered a "deal" in which he would only give me a ticket for a city ordinance of "inattentive driving." Which doesn't go on a driving record.

Thinking I got off pretty well, I showed up to pay the ticket a month later and the woman looks at me and goes "That will be $275 please" After a near heart attack, I recovered long enough to find out from the clerk that a City Ordinance has a fine set by the city, while the fine for a speeding violation ($100) is set by the state. They catch drivers by charging them with a city ordinance violation and not putting it on their driving record, thus, its not officially a "speed trap"

In other words, I got a $275 fine for driving 5 over the speed limit, in a situation where most cops in the large towns won't even bother with you.

I didn't get off terrible though, I had a friend who was caught going 25 over in a speed trap, and he got himself thrown in jail for three days.
