So it seems that everyone has settled down and cooler understanding heads have prevailed. So If ASU travels as well as they have predicted both Universities should stand to make a profit this year. Because we are playing an in-state school it is very hard to get any good tickets other than at the school it self which is great for us. Should be a huge crowd at NOB Cajuns travel well and the excitement for Tulane's fan base to end the bowl drought in there own stadium will pay big dividends. Any word on how ticket sale are going for ASU or a prediction on ticket sales.

Too early to tell. They have a pep rally on the state capitol grounds planned and will have tickets available there as well.

There seems to be a lot of excitement about it because fans don't expect us to go to this particular bowl game again for awhile. Anyone that didn't go the last two times are going for sure this time. I wouldn't be surprised if we sell more tickets this time than we did in 2011.

Lots of people on our message board already talking about buying tickets. Big news is that Hotels are already filling up.

RE: I've been ambivalent about the Cajuns ever joining C-USA....
The fact of the matter is, putting a departing member in a bowl over a remaining member makes little sense, even moreso in this case.

Benson was MT's conference commissioner for all of (a somewhat tenuous to begin with) three months before we announced our departure and another six months or so beyond that, WKU had a similar timeline, but with a little bit later announcement and another year of membership.

What does Benson lose by pissing off MT and WKU? The only way we'd ever end up back in the Sun Belt anytime remotely soon would be to have the CUSA rug yanked out from under us a la NMSU and Idaho with the WAC, apart from that, something may happen further down the road, but would be unlikely to involve Benson by that point.

The guy has made a fair number of enemies, mostly out of fans but certainly some administrators as well, but he's been employed as a conference commissioner for several decades now, doesn't really seem like it's caught up to him too much at this point.

He's protecting his constituency at the expense of a couple of schools he had little to no relationship with in the first place and is unlikely to have a relationship with in the future.

It's really pretty simple.

It bears mention that the rankings were a tiebreaker for division champs with identical records without a head to head meeting, if either one of Marshall or Rice had won 1 more game, this wouldn't be an issue.

That's great news heck I might go to the GDB always looking for a road trip. Our crew were determined to go the NOB no matter which Belt team played in it.

ASU's ticket sales will probably start stronger this year simply because we still have a head coach. This time the last two years we were in the process of starting coaching searches. That should keep sales high early...we'll have to maintain them late, hence the pep rally in LR.

Though I guess Boise could lose Petersen in a few days to Washington and we could start the process over again just for kicks.

Hey no one wants to lose a coach but if we lose our coaches the way you guys have been losing coaches that would mean we're building a winning program. I'll take that.

We laugh all the way to the bank with the buyout check. Harsin's buyout is so high I don't think Boise could afford it, but if they did, they would be making a sizable donation that we would use to pay our next coach even more money.

That idiot Collin Cowherd referred to ASU as a truck stop job on his radio show today. I had to laugh.

Wow so it is a real possibility that you could lose another coach, speak volume of your program and its accomplishments congrats.

The conference's job is not to be nice. It is to advance the interests of its membership.

If the Cajuns are ever in 2nd place and get jumped over by a departing Texas State for a bowl slot, rest assured my thoughts on the subject will be consistent.

And I agree fully with your comments about the conference's job being to advance the interests of its membership.....of which WKU is one until the end of June next year.

Haha, I'm certain you won't. You'd scream bloody murder.

WKU is a short-timer. They get what they are legally contracted to get. Promoting them above and beyond gains our membership nothing. I have nothing against WKU. It's just business.

Once again, no WKU fan expects for the conference to go "above and beyond" for WKU.

We expect the opposite, in fact.

Anythings possible....but I doubt they're ready for him yet.

But if they did hire him away.....for the last 3 seasons, we will have paid $0.00 for our coaches.

If Petersen were ever going to leave it would have been for that Oregon job. Not Washington. His standard of living with his pay in Boise is just insane.

Petersen's kid gets a lot of treatment over there and he is familiar with some of the assistants. It's also not a media magnet, which he hates. Its a little more subdued than USC. It is not totally out of the question for him to take that job.

Since I also visit the C-USA forum from time to time, my thoughts about ever competing in C-USA have definitely morphed. I was reading the Tulane N.O. Bowl game thread and I'm now of the opinion that regardless of how the Cajuns would perform on the field in C-USA, it would be worth the move just to watch those arrogant SOB Lolly Polly fans go into total meltdown for having us join that conference.

What a bunch of a**holes they can be.

I apologize if my remark has offended a single anus out there.

Forgive them. Living in Ruston for any length of time can turn perfectly nice people into jerks.
