At least they didn't start 0-26.

RE: WKU deserves a bowl also
Bottom line is that an 8-4 team (which WKU is, regardless of anyone's feelings about it) should get an invite to a bowl. The sad truth is though, that I think conference standings SHOULD mean something otherwise what's the point of conferences really?
I see both sides. Just wish there were more bowls so this wouldn't be an issue.
Also would prefer it if the bowls were more... slotted. As in "conference champ goes to X all the time", "2nd place automatically goes to Y", etc. Until Texas State played this season, I honestly thought that was the way it was.

Touche'. I'm on record for saying I think TxSt has great potential and is a great add for any FBS conference. The sky's the limit for them. However, as to their start in FBS, yes, they won some games to some bad teams (Idaho[twice], NMSU, GaSt, USM) and did get some wins against not really bad teams (Houston, Wyoming, USA) but I'd put our 26 game loosing streak schedule up against theirs and I bet they wouldn't have been successful either. Regardless, I have no animosity towards TxSt at all. This poster just pushed a button.

So scheduling beat downs by good teams also makes you a good team? Having a schedule above your depth should not be a point of pride. Just sayin.

Of course I'm not talking about the LSU's, Alabama's, Nebraska's etc. I'm talking about the good G5 schools we played in those 2 years...i.e. several good SBC teams and others. We didn't stack our schedule with two of the nation's perennially bad teams and a bunch of other bad startups in order to get easy wins.
TxSt has still yet to beat a FBS team with a winning record. WKU didn't either in our first two years.

it wasn't just the scheduling that played into that start. many missteps including the coach selected to lead us into it and hubris on the president and a.d.
that said....all that crowing by txstate earlier turned into 38-7 excuse making a couple weeks ago.

Godzilla we get it, you don't like WKU, move along....
as for TXST I think if the movement dies down for a year or two and TXST continues to improve (around sports) you will be a attractive add for a conference.
I loved my trip to the area even if it was about 25 degrees below normal and looking forward to returning for basketball in late Feb

Yeah, I hated the weather, especially considering it was a first trip for many to the area.

Most of us in the Sun belt think they were a very good addition anyway. Nonetheless WKU should be happy they are going to a weaker FB conference. You might actually win it. Lord knows you weren't going to win the Sun belt.

That's not true I have nothing against the team or the university, just don't like a majority of the fans because they talk down to everyone else in the conference like they are something special.

Do you mean to tell me ASU isn't leaving the SBC? Surely not because everything I read over the last couple days would make me thing ASU fans hate the SBC...
oh wait no one is taking your calls

We usually don't agree on a lot of things but I hope the truth doesn't hurt because the ER will be full of ASU fans.

WKU deserves a bowl bid and I think they still have a good shot at getting one. So does stAte. WKU did beat ASU 3 of 5. Don't forget stAte has won the conference title the last two years and may very well back door into a 3rd. So, both programs are on the rise.
Some of your fans have mentioned that WKU would have a hard time getting a bid because your leaving the conference. That's probably the biggest reason you didn't get one of the 2 Sun Belt tie-ins. I would think an 8-4 record would give you a better chance at an at-large bid. I wish you all the best in CUSA. I hope you are successful and can't fault you for playing, and beating, your weak little sister, Kentucky. The only negative thing I have to say is that your coach is a dick, but I guess everyone knows that. Go Toppahs

I've admired WKU's transition many times on this board. It was just laying there on the ground ready to be picked up and I'm not one to resist that sort of thing.

The GoDaddy Bowl did.
But will they next year, the year after and the year after that...
you better hope so because it will be your only shot
ULL/ULM/TXST has New Orleans locked down
Troy and any other eastern school as the Montgomery bowl locked up
So ASU better hope 2 of these USA, Troy, GSU and APP never reaches 7 wins...or win the conference
If they do and you don't
ring ring ring...
you have reached the "fill in the blank" we have no openings, try harder next year.
WKU no longer has to worry about that so enjoy it this year
7 probably wont be enough in 2014
