It looks as though Tulane won’t have to travel far for its first bowl game in 11 years.

The bus will click off four miles down South Claiborne, according to most experts.

The Green Wave (7-5, 5-3 in Conference USA) is projected to play University of Louisiana-Lafayette in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

The Cajuns, which clinched at least a share of the Sun Belt title, earned the Big Easy bid for the third year in a row. The team accepted its berth on Saturday.

A reliable source told me that Tulane was offered a spot in the national championship game but turned it down in order to play the Cajuns.

The Cajuns celebrate a great season by play Tulane? The only people who will be watching that game are the two teams playing in it. Can't believe the Cajuns are to scared to actually play better teams.

so you're saying if someone in the conference finishes 6-6 but has the second best record they should get a bowl bid over an 8-4 team who finished third in the conference I know this isn't the case this year just asking.

Coach Hudspeth is not, he wanted the Indy Bowl. Your answer is obvious, too many Cajun fans are comfortable with just playing in the NO Bowl. But again, had ASU taken care of business on the field, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

What do you mean we are scared to play better teams. We took what was offered to us just like you will do if a bowl come calling and you won't care who the opponent is. If the bowl in question is a conference-tied bowl, then absolutely yes. Now if it's not a conference-tied bowl then all bets are off. That's the whole reason we even have conferences. If we are looking at overall records to determine conference standings, then we need to stop scheduling Auburn, Missouri, and Oregon and start racking up wins against FCS schools so that we'll have a head start of becoming conference champs...

Eh, if I was a Cajun fan... I'd want the NOLA bowl as well. Easy trip for me to attend, should be a LARGE student contingent there (and it's not often that students get to go en masse to a bowl game), and it's a good location.

If I was the Cajun administration though... I'd want a bigger bowl (I honestly have no idea if the NOLA bowl is bigger than the Independence bowl or whatever), for bigger exposure, hopefully better recruits come from it, if you win, it helps you with ranking at the start of next year, to get you in the top 25, etc.

Cajuns obviously don't care about national rankings. They are just trying to prove that they are the second best team in Louisiana...kinda depressing when you think about it.
