But let's speak clearly here.

The Cajuns have probably lost their starting quarterback for the next two games. They just lost to ULM and may lose to a very dangerous USA team next week.

Wouldn't stAte fans be better served looking in the mirror and asking themselves why they didn't give WKU a curb stomping guaranteeing themselves a conference co-championship at this point and perhaps an outright championship after next weekend's game?

Do that and your bowl is locked up, no?

There is no tie-breaker and co-champs are equal. But Cajuns beat us head-to-head in our own place and clinched a share of the championship.

So they deserve to to go wherever they want without worrying about anyone else. Anything other than that is sour grapes.

As for beating WKU, we gave it our best shot with a backup QB and almost pulled it off. We finished #2 at worst.

Thanks for putting that the way you did. I've admired stAte fans generally because they're not smack talkers and just get the job done year in year out.

If the Cajuns lose from here forward without Broadway I'm sure some Cajun fans will whine that we lost because our qb was injured. Well, I'll respond the same.

A top 25 team, as many of our fans believed the Cajuns were, rises above adversity and finds a way to win. A good team is more than one man. If the starting qb gets injured, then the coaches better have the next guy prepared to hit the ground running. And if he's not as talented as the guy that went down, then the defense better step it up a knotch to give him a chance to win with fewer points scored. Everyone has to step it up.

If a team doesn't have skilled backups, then they're not really top quality teams.

We have moaned a lot about our performances this year...like Memphis. But I haven't heard many fans at all say anything bad about our performance against WKU. I'm awfully proud of the way that they responded to the adversity and very happy with the way our backup played.

Indeed. And you'll likely be rewarded for the season's fine work with a bowl invite.

But at the same time, WKU warrants some respect too. After we beat them up there I was sure they'd fold. They didn't. They've fought till the very end and have finished the season with a better overall record than stAte. Toss in the Patrino storyline and I can understand why an ESPN might want to see them in a bowl. As others have stated, the bowls are about making money. "Being fair" rarely enters into the equation.

As for the conference affiliation issue as it relates to a bowl bid, there's only one question to ask. Is WKU a Belt member??

Of course they are until July 14, I love me some ASU but they had a chance to secure a bowl bid heck ULM almost gave them the conference title but they blew it. Bad calls happens in every game we all hate them especially if they go against us. But my sympathy ends when they claim we screwed the conference by refusing an Indy bowl which I doubt because they are in no position to offer that bowl slot until all plays out next week. Did they offer a slot like they did to La Tech last year. Unless it's in writing it isn't an offer. WKU earned that spot and should get it. Everyone wants to move up to a bigger conference how can you recruits schools to come in but treat members unfair because they are leaving. If that's the case drop WKU from all other sports today or they are still members.

I'm sure the SBC will carry out all legal obligations they are required to carry out. Going to bat for them to take a bowl slot over a non-defecting member is not one of those obligations.

Go Jags!

They beat us head-to-head. They deserve their choice of party regardless of how it affects us.

WKU on the other hand is waltzing out of this conference. They don't deserve to jump the (at worst) #2 (at best) co-champs of our conference.

Our fan base won't take that jump of a departing #4 team over us lightly. We've been very supportive of this conference and the new members and defended them. We've had the best record over the last couple of years.

WKU will most likely jump us and then waltz out of the conference. But we will no longer have a reason to be supportive of it. Just the opposite. It won't be because we are "too good" for the conference. It will be because it has no ability or inclination to side with its friends.

It has nothing to with the damn conference for the 100th time...if GoDADDY wants WKU they will select WKU, GO Daddy gets second pick regardless of some obscure rule you guys come up with that has since been locked(that tells you something)....WKU has been a member over 30 plus years in this conference, triple of how many years you have been...If you want to blame someone, blame lazy fat WW who sat on his ass and did nothing for moving the conference forward, hence 2 bowl bids while the MAC has about 7 along with CUSA in bowl bids...Waters could have been proactive in securing back up bowl agreements but he did not even do that, As I learned a copule of season ago the MAC has about 8 backup agreements for bowl seems like, they were proactive the SB was not......

Why do think former Sun Belt teams bolt for CUSA? if you have a good season you do not want to wait and see and play the political game to see if you are bowling are not after a great season.....If WKU does make it over Ark. St., I am afraid you guys will be jumping off bridges sounds like....You would have or could still been to this bowl 3 straight years, If I was an Ark. St. fan I would want a different bowl the 3rd time around but I guess that is just me....

Yes. It is the conference. If they password protect the Conference Bylaws after someone notices they aren't following them, and then announce that the Conference Bylaws are just guidelines. Then there is a real problem for every conference member.

This is a problem whether or not Arkansas State gets a bowl bid. You simply cannot have a major athletic conference that has no set conference rules other than the whim of the commissioner.

Yea and in the end it comes down to 2 bowl bids...Only fans going crazy are Ark St fans about bylaws written two or three years ago, like everything else I am sure their are loopholes and are not set...Sun Belt and NCAA breaks bylaws all the time, this is not anything new..

Everyone who is actually going to be remaining in this conference should be going crazy about it.

And it doesn't matter when they were written as long as they are still in force.
