Are you saying there are no..."exceptions to the rule?" It would be somewhat refreshing at times to hear a play by play guy that tells it like it is...Like Gary Sanders used to do...

McGee said the defense has to get better than it's been (duh!), and he's trying to figure out how to avoid off-season injuries. Also said he is going to become more involved with the defense. Maybe he can call all of the offensive AND defensive plays next year (lol).

Really?! That was it?03-lmfao No defensive staff changes? He should call "The Wyatt Family" to see if they're available, except for the guy that wears the sheep mask...Obviously a Troy fan...03-lmfao

No mention of it..........probably told Crane beforehand what to talk (and not) talk about.

Wouldn't surprise me much if he did...And speaking of Crane, does he come off to you sometimes as being a bit "too optimistic" at times?

Crane is a great guy, and VERY upbeat. He will always try to find a positive.............just the way he is wired, which is probably good for the radio.

You never heard Gary Sanders "tell it like it is" regarding coaching. A professional play by play guy does not attack the school or the coach. He may comment on bad play or a bad game, but he knows where his paycheck is coming from.

If you want media members who are less optimistic regarding UAB, there is no shortage in Birmingham.

I didn't say he "attacks" anyone, but, IMO, he's more straightforward about things he's seen in games than most that I've encountered. I got nothing against Crane, he's a great guy, I've talked with him in person a couple of times. Just wish he weren't so damn..."glass half full" all the time during football season. Are there any radio "personalities" that anyone here is aware of that can say or has said, "we stink!" "we can't stop a pop warner team!" and is regarded by that school's fans as an acceptable "voice" for their sports teams? I'm betting somewhere out there, there is at least one.

Saying we stink and we can't stop a pop warner team is not attacking the school or coach???

Sounds like an attack to me.

I want my play-by-play guy to be a shameless homer.

Yeah one the few media members in Birmingham that is all in with UAB, and some are complaining he's too optimistic. When other media members are more "realistic", the same poster lambasts them in very uncivil manners

Its obvious the O should be ok now with PT3's commitment. What about the Defense is the question that has stood for years and UAB coaches seem to always try harder to make their O great and lend no focus on the defense. My question is what do we have currently on this defense that would help you think this defense will finally turn the corner?

DLine ,You could say the best DT is a former Olinemen that was the highest rated one who didn't play, but would've probably played in the last two games as an OL with all the injuries. Crumbley actually ended up third on the team in sacks with two, Morris had none. Best DE Watkins had an episode, Rabb is undersized ,Grissett under underutilized, but all returning DE's got a sack on the season still think Roberson should be at MLB instead of DE.

LB, you have guys who has played and six who hasn't. Jones,Ganus, and Challenger should be out there together. That still doesn't leave any depth Alston,Crews, and Slaughter are the only other with a D1 snap to their names. Pettway,McCullum,Ejike,Coleman,J Jackson, and Fuller hasn't played.

CB, Jean and Brackett are two decent corners and their is Farmer (who I would move to safety) that's played most of the snaps. Also Brown who should play a little more, Caligone and one kid currently committed not much depth at this spot.

Safety, Four lost to season ending injuries leaving Petty, N Jackson, and Lowe as your healthy safeties for spring. I think I remember one time under XCNC we had like close to 9-10 schollies at the safety position might need a JuCo or two so guys can properly recover and not rush back on the field.

Bender,Atwater,Daniel,Hicks,McGaskin,Stafford,Ferguson,A.J Wilson,Warren, and Amarikwa.

Huge +1. And this group had the ironman Ballou covering his side at corner too.

1. Gary Sanders would have never been negative about a UAB coach while he was a UAB play by play guy.

2. Crane's paycheck comes from UAB. His job is to be supportive of UAB and paint the picture of the game for FANS. Most of our opponents have a feed of their radio team if you want to listen to somebody talking crap about your team. If Crane did it, he'd be fired.

3. I think Crane has been fairly critical at times. I'm not sure you've listened to him enough if you don't think so. Usually it's directed at the refs or other teams mistakes...but I've heard some zingers come from him during games regarding bad plays and miscues.
